A very centrally situated, 4 star boutique hotel which did not dissapoint, despite having difficulty finding it. The best solution would be to park in the town's vast underground car park (around 12 euros per day!!) come above ground and walk to the hotel on the main pedestrianised tree lined avenue. Well modernised historic building, good sized bedrooms and bathrooms, with very modern fittings. Very pleasant breakfast room/ restaurant opening out onto a small patio and garden. We ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions and on both occasions it was excellent. Ideally situated within seconds walk of the main square, shopping etc. and Bom Jesus is close to hand.

I found this hotel on the Trip Advisor web site. Nothing I read from the other reviews was wrong except the bit about the parking, this is in fact very easy indeed. Having been driving around the North of Portugal all weekend we just drove into the centre of the town and parked up at what looked like an old square hoping to find someone to point the way ( we did not even have a map ) and there it was right in front of us. In fact the hotel suggested that we park in the underground car park just down the road about two minutes away, which we did.
The welcome at the hotel was first class, the rooms are spotless and very well finished. The bathrooms are totally lovely as it the general furnishings throughout. The breakfast was complete and unlimited and the evening meal ( in the hotels own Michelan (? spelling ) restaurant ranked with many of the best I have eaten anywhere, the wine was superb ( a suggestion from the owner).
The price of the room at 59 Euro was a steal and the three course 5 star meal with win for two at the same price was also. After dinner we met with the owners who told us their wonderful story how they started the hotel. It is they told us a family venture and they moved back to Portugal from UK to realise their dream.
We think they have succeeded but dont wait to visit this great place because firstly you may not get a room , there are only 19 and the occupancy is very high and 2nd because this is a crazy price for such quality and it will surely increase as their reputation continues to grow. It is already number one in Braga !!!

The Albergaria Bracara Augusta is a beautiful boutique hotel. Behind the historical facade you can expect a new building with all comfort a modern hotel has to offer these days. Due to the old facade a couple of rooms have almost no daylight. If you'd like a room with a normal window, make sure to make an appropriate reservation.

Since the hotel is located in a pedestrian zone in the center of Braga it is not easy to access by car.

I can really recommend the restaurant with its excellent service to you.

Great hotel on a pedestrianised street. Staff were wonderful and spoke excellent english. We booked a suite which looked out the front with a balcony so great for people watching. Breakfast was good with the usual continental selection. Parking in this hectic town is a bit of a problem but dump your bags in the hotel first then park the car in the underground car park. Also don't get this hotel confused with a similarly named hotel a few hundered yards away especially if you are using sat nav!
