“decent accommodation but with many points to improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

I stayed one night only on a business trip, I can't classified as a negative experience but there´s a lot of things to be improved in this hotel.

Such as:
- The rooms are wide, but the heating is not powefull enough to heat it. also the edcoration is very dated, I would say "classic decor"! The bathroom have the same decor and it´s very, very simple, but reasonable for one or two days. ALso there´s no fridge or safe available in the room.
- The location can be a good thing, it´s close to a important attraction in the city, but to get there or to return to the city center car is required. The good side of it is the quite and silent night this hotel can offer. The down side is the parking, the hotel have a very limited offer (4 or 5 cars only), you have to park around.
- The hotel on the ground floor, as I found, don´t have the same management of the hotel. There´s a restaurant just a few meter away much simple but better food.
- The breakfast is very, very, very simple, to me was the worse os my experience. No hot food, and the variaty avaialbe is very limited. Also the quality could be better, the juice is like "TANG", made of powder.

Short story, for the price charged there´s a lot of more options in the city, this is classified as a 3 star hotel, but is a almost a 2 stars.

It's the 2nd time we spend our wedding anniversary at this hotel. The room is comfortable and spacious with beautiful surroundings. Excellent quality-price relationship. Staff extremely friendly and attentive.

Very friendly staff. Dated rooms, but they are clean and all part of the atmosphere of the hotel. Beautiful surrounding area - serene and quiet, very picturesque. Average breakfast. Parking is simply on the street in front of the hotel, but very quiet, safe area - not many people around. Would recommend staying here - if looking for a romantic getaway. Not much do around the hotel - once you have walked to Bom-Jesus and around surrounding areas. Would definitely advise a car as hotel is out of central Braga.

This is a small hotel with very homely, warm atmosphere. Each staff is very friendly and really wants to help. When we came they told us to feel like at home and we really felt. For example as soon as a receptionist noticed that we have bought a bottle a vine, she asked if we needed glasses, and after the moment she provided us with glasses, corkscrew and … small fridge.
They really tried to do their best. However, it was difficult communicate because only one person at all hotel spoke English. Maybe in peak season they have more English speaking staff.
Rooms are big enough, clean, traditionally decorated with beautiful view on Braga. Beds were too hard for us and uncomfortable.
There are some “must to see” places near the hotel – sanctuary Bom Jesus do Monte; lovely park with ponds, caves, small bridge, etc.; and Sameiro. However, you must take under consideration that the hotel is outside Braga (at the top of the hill - steep drive), so if you want visit the town, you should travel by car or use public transport .
There is one restaurant in this hotel, and two restaurants next door. Unfortunately, out of a season all was closed and it was necessary to drive to Braga for a dinner .

Room Tip: 1. Choose room on higher level – better view. 2. Recommended for guests with car.

We stayed in december for one night. The location is very nice, but you´d definitely need a car to get there. Parking is no problem, at least during the winter.
Breakfast was included for us, and is worth getting up for.
Overall: Very good!

Charming, enthusiastic owner who was very helpful with what there was to see in the area. Beautiful clean classic bedrooms with wonderful views from their balconies. Delicious good quality breakfast. There are nearby restaurants for evening meals serving generous portions.

The receptionist speaks mostly French and managed to give us a warmest welcome. We brought some wine with us and voila! the next day we found 2 wine glasses on the dress table when we returned from our sight-seeing. Such is the level of their attention to detail. The view from every balcony is the green, sometimes misty, valley underneath, since the hotel is on top of a hill. The rooms are clean, very clean. Breakfast were something to look forward to each morning, and the simple buffet also includes fantastic bread and coffee, and all the other cakes and tarts, yoghurt, ham & cheese etc. The breakfast server will actually ask you if you would also like an espresso in addition. From the hotel it is a short walk through the tree-lined park to the church. Make sure you walk down the steps and look up the church as it is a great photo shoot opportunity from down there (see pic).

This is the perfect place to relax on the balcony, to shop and to do sightseeing in the area. It make sense to have a car though, unless you plan to just roam the immediate surrounding. Having said that, public transport is possible as there is a bus from Braga that goes to the bottom of the hill and a tram to take you up if you can't be bother to scale the steps.

Internet was free. We were on the top floor (level 2), and there was a WIFI modem right outside the room.

Also, if you have a smart phone, invest in a pre-paid sim card (vodafone) for EUR 15. Absolutely worth it as that means you can take the country road to Barcelos, Guimaraes, Viana do Castelo etc.
