Went for a week bed and breakfast--superb accommodation --huge room and en-suite--everything provided--toiletries -tea and coffee-bath robes -beach towels-hair dryer-fridge-all towels and linens changed on a daily basis as requested. Even a can of insect repellent which was not required. Huge satellite TV/DVD with BBC,ITV and Sky. Room fully air conditioned with a balcony overlooking superb gardens to the sea. Breakfast was buffet style served 7.30 to 10.30 ranging from full English to Continental and local specialities-supporting staff very professional and friendly. There was even good quality sparkling wine if you fancied starting the day with a "Bucks Fizz" while taking breakfast on the patio. We had lunch by the pool a couple of times which again was provided to the same excellent standards and although we went out for dinner ( see separate review on " A Vela Branca " ),after taking advantage of "happy hour" in the cocktail bar. We spent much of the week exploring the island helped by the hotel which runs a courtesy bus to Funchal, l which is approx. 45 minutes walk. The hotel attracts a mature discerning visitor and the holiday could be described as a good cruise without the ship.
