“Great breakfast time sunrise view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Almost a fortress hotel on the hill has only one disadvantage: you are 20 minutes walk far from the coast, so swimming in the sea is little bit off the hand. Admitedly, the hotel will compensate this fact with beautiful Funchal city views and easy hotel car parking free of charge. The hotel keeps all of the high standards that other hotels from Four Views chain possess, little dissappointing being the entrance fee for the interior swimming pool and fitness centre for other than non-superior rooms guests. Internet connection with self service printing machine free of charge was a nice surprise. Right from the hotel you can access one of the many city levadas (irrigation channels) for a nice walk. You also can save some money on your drink expenses when you dont find necessary that cleaning ladies do your room every day. This dungeon-like hotel will not dissappoint you by any means.

Half way up a hill, so quite a walk from Funchal [if you want to be near the action]. Down hill out, but a massive walk back to the hotel. This was a hotel we could have booked. There are a three Four Views hotels on Madeira, we had a nosey in them all, as they had all been options in the holiday brochures.
The driveway and the entrance and the overall look looks very swish as you arrive. And very modern feel. Room balconies are very small. The sun terrace looks great, with double wicker sunloungers, and great views over the city....however it is situated hanging over a busy highway, and the sound of traffic would disturb any quite relaxing book read. We are so glad we decided to stay somewhere else instead.

There are few hotels that are perfect. This hotel is definitely among them.
We have stayed in a Superior Room overlooking the Atlantic on 9 floors. The room was furnished very modern. Large bathroom with bathtub, hair dryer, large sink, bidet and radio. Best Baoli but the views from the bedroom, which was from top to bottom glazed, morning in the room was very romantic with a view of the city and harbor. The room has a plasma TV and refrigerator. The room has a balcony with chairs and table.
The hotel offers breakfast and dinner in addition. We had breakfast included everything from coffee to desserts. Food supplement the regular staff, so we could get up later.
Very pleasant stay variegation were two pools, one outside on the terrace and the other below it, in the wellness center, both with spectacular views of the city.
Public areas were free WiFi in our room even internet access.
The hotel offers guests a scheduled shuttle service to the city for free, several times a day.
The hotel is close to shopping center and a short walk from the city center, walk there in 10 minutes. Worse was walking back up the hill. parking is free.

Me and my sister stayed at this hotel in June 2012 for 4 days. The hotel is modern and new equipped. Especially the common areas are clean with modern decoration. I suggest to book superior room. The view is unforgettable and definately is worth the extra money! The staff is very helpful and they will advise you for excursions around the island. The check in was ok. The buffet breakfast includes fresh fruits, vegetables, salads etc and not to many thickener food (donuts etc). Most of the breakfast food is fresh and helthy. The pool is clean and not too buzy. The prices to the pool bar are very low. Coffee for 2 euros. Good choice for a morning coffee with greate view. The hotel is value for money. We paid 89 euro per night for superior room. Also there is a free parking where you can safely park your car. The hotels in the beach area are too expencive. A similar hotel in the coast line cost over 110 euro, but Madeira beachers are not for swimming so no reason to book there.

Room Tip: book superior room- the view is stunning

Very Nice hotel, near downtown Funchal. The room had a great view over the city and the ocean. The room was big, with a small balcony. The restaurant is good, although not typical per se. On Fridays you have the possibility of dining next to the swiming pool, wich was very nice especially because the temperature was ok. Great swiming pool, where you can also enjoy the view of the city and the ocean. One negative point was the AC which was a little bit noisy, and the next door guest who left the TV on and on loud volume!!!

Pleasant modern hotel. Nice bedrooms. The breakfast buffet is pretty good but i wouldn't want to spend any amount of time there. The pool is OK but pretty crowded once people come back from days out. We chose B & B not half board having read previous reviews. The old town of Funchal is about 20 minutes away with a choice of restaurants - takes a bit longer to walk back up the hill!
The hotel has very few facilities and the bar prices are rather high. There is free Wi Fi in the main reception areas but it was intermittent when we were there. OK but probably wouldn't go back.

This is a modern looking hotel in Funchal.
My advice... go for the superior rooms/suites with ocean view, it definitely is worth the extra money.
The breakfast is very good and the the dinner is just OK.
I enjoyed the pool although there is some traffic noise from the above avenue, but not enough to bother me. The SPA and gym are average.
It's takes 10 minutes walking down a hill to get to the Funchal bay, yes very easy! But not so easy when going back to the hotel up the hill if you are an older person.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The best thing about it? The excellent view!

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms/suites ate the upper floors with ocean view!
