I have just returned from a week at the Hotel Baia Azul with Justyou a company who specialise in holidays for adult single people. The hotel is very comfortable, staff on the whole extremely willing to help. My room had a balcony, which overlooked the very tidy and beautiful garden, full of little birds. A nice place to sit and have a quiet drink and read after being out all day. The hotel was full but the staff coped, although food around the pool took a little while to arrive.

“Good”

Hotel Baia Azul

May 13, 2008

We found this hotel clean, quite a decent pool, & football lovers they show most of the top games on a large screen in the TV room, we booked B/B and found the breakfast fine, typical hotel food, but plenty to pick from. We stayed in the hotel for evening meal one night and it was really good. Plenty of places to eat nearby. We had no problems the whole week.

“Enjoyable first stay.”

We stayed 1 week at this hotel 15th-22nd Feb 2008 on our first visit to Madeira. The hotel was excellent and looked smart and clean from the start. Our room was large with a lovely sea view.
Buffet breakfast was very well organized with plenty of choice. We only had dinner at the hotel on 2 evenings but the choice was good and the food enjoyable. The staff were friendly and always smartly dressed and there were plenty of them to look after us well. Although it is 2.5km out of Funchal the buses which stop outside the hotel cost 1.55 euro each or a taxi was 6 euros. We did walk back one evening for a change. We would be happy to return in the future.

as a travel agent i went to maderia to review about 6 hotels
i stayed in the baia azul and could not fault it.
if your looking for an ultra modern hotel this is not for you.
hotel was spotless, rooms good size, would def recommend paying extra for sea view.
breakfast great choice, had lunch too very good.
i ate out for evening meals, but had a look in at restaurant,
typical buffet food. would suggest only b/b as restaurants
so good and great value.
great location and views. every member of staff were so nice and they did not know until end of my stay that i was agent.
madeira very hilly so bring good walking shoes.
funchal well worth a visit and courtesy bus is well woth using.
visited the golf courses, yes very hilly too, but managable.
nice bar in evening and music sometimes.
i loved madeira and cant wait to go back.
travelled end of jan and weather was nice, 20 or little more
at nighttime did not even need coat or jumper.
nice promenade directly in front of hotel for nice sea walk.
only proper sand beach on west coast, but sand still artifical.
rocky inlets, good sea trips. all in all loved madeira.
having seen alot of 4 and 5 star hotels i would rate the baia azul
the best of the 4 star hotel.
if you want 5 star think of tivoli ocean park resort 4 mins away
or the savoy. tivoil ultra modern, savoy such class, but not stuffy
1930/1940 style loved it, but its pricey but well worth every euro.

We travelled to Madeira for the first time with another couple to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. The hotel Baia Azul was excellent from check in to the very friendly maid who told us where to find everything in the hotel. A nice touch was thebottle of champagne in our room compliments of the hotel for our anniversary. The standard of cleanliness could not be faulted. The swimming pool was spotless with a lovely view out to sea.We were booked in as bed and breakfast but chose to eat our evening meal there a couple of times as the food was so good. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from but we thought the best was The Clube Naval de Funchal situated behind the hotel near the sea. The food was really good and the house wine was excellent! It's worth hiring a car because there is so much of the island you would never see without it. The hotel has an underground garage which is free for guests to use.
