as a travel agent i went to maderia to review about 6 hotels
i stayed in the baia azul and could not fault it.
if your looking for an ultra modern hotel this is not for you.
hotel was spotless, rooms good size, would def recommend paying extra for sea view.
breakfast great choice, had lunch too very good.
i ate out for evening meals, but had a look in at restaurant,
typical buffet food. would suggest only b/b as restaurants
so good and great value.
great location and views. every member of staff were so nice and they did not know until end of my stay that i was agent.
madeira very hilly so bring good walking shoes.
funchal well worth a visit and courtesy bus is well woth using.
visited the golf courses, yes very hilly too, but managable.
nice bar in evening and music sometimes.
i loved madeira and cant wait to go back.
travelled end of jan and weather was nice, 20 or little more
at nighttime did not even need coat or jumper.
nice promenade directly in front of hotel for nice sea walk.
only proper sand beach on west coast, but sand still artifical.
rocky inlets, good sea trips. all in all loved madeira.
having seen alot of 4 and 5 star hotels i would rate the baia azul
the best of the 4 star hotel.
if you want 5 star think of tivoli ocean park resort 4 mins away
or the savoy. tivoil ultra modern, savoy such class, but not stuffy
1930/1940 style loved it, but its pricey but well worth every euro.
