Nice views, special feeling. Quite expensive but worth the while. Taxi is cheaper (25 euro from the Golden Residence) but this is more fun.

Great vues up and down. Fair value. Much better than driving and departs from downtown, so no hassel. Recommended.
Thought this was reasonably good value for a main attraction in funchal, was ten euros one way or fifteen euro return. I'm not a big lover of heights so I faced up instead of down. Takes about ten minutes to get to the top (monte). We only got a one way ticket as came down on a taboggen (not as scary as it looks) which is a must do!monte was a lovely place with a church and nice gardens which we didn't look round because it was raining.really good trip if in funchal as gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the city.
A great ride from the centre of the city, beside the Hotel Santa Maria. Great views and once at the top, either a chair ride down the hill, or another cable car to the botanical gardens. Wonderful views, great plants, nice for a cup of tea.
