This is a cracking hotel everything about it is great.
Whilst stating there my wife went ill with a serious heart problem resulting in her being admitted to Madeira Hospital. As I could not leave Madeira at the end of the holiday the hotel said stay as long as you like. Throughout this trying period the hotel staff were very kind to me, checking what they could do to help etc. I had plenty of grief from the insurer’s agent in France but the hotel staff was always there to help. When it goes wrong this hotel gets 10 out of 10.

No kids in this hotel. We had a very peaceful stay. Actually we would not mind a few kids aroind, but if you like a quiet hotell with a very good locations in Funchal, this is the place for you. The rooms were clean and pleasant. Polite and friendly staff. I could return to this hotel!

Enjoyed our week in Funchal. Hotel is well placed for the old town and promenade. Found watching the building of the sea defences really interesting and felt devastated on behalf of the workmen as we watched the sea destroy all their hard work in one night as a storm with high waves and wind just flattened the new moles and knocked the huge concrete blocks away. Wonderful rough seas. Found the rooms and facilities excellent. Loved having no children there, loved the breakfasts and lunch at the hotel plus the happy hour and the 10 euros each per day as compensation meant we were actually in credit at the end of the week. The weather was disappointing with only one hot day and one bright but windy. Had bought a timeshare at the start of the week but cancelled it at the end as the weather was so unpredictable. We will be back though.

This is a lovely hotel with spacious, well equipped rooms, good food, excellent service and a fantastic location overlooking the bay in the heart of the historic zone. There are so many restaurants within a 5 minute walk that we didn't eat dinner at the hotel but the breakfast selection is vast and enjoyable. There was some engineering work being done to the new harbour defences for which the hotel compensated us generously with a €20 credit per day but it really wasn't a problem for us. In fact being married to an engineer we found the whole thing fascinating rather than distracting. On the whole a lovely hotel which I would heartily recommend for exploring Funchal and the surrounding area.
