We loved the architecture and style of the hotel. Everything there was tasteful.
What made our stay very special was the staff that was beyond warm with us and our 6 month baby.
The only thing we were less ecstatic about would be the pool which is a bit clustered and not sunny all day but definitely nothing compared to the amazing good points of the hotel
Perfect get away with with good food and good people as a bonus.

We stayed for 10 nights during March. The garden is immaculate and the gardeners were very busily but unobtrusively tending it throughout every day. Sub-tropical trees, colourful shrubs and perennial plants with well chosen ground cover in the beds and the scent from the white jasmine climbers made it a pleasure to walk through or relax in. We stayed in one of the south facing garden rooms but wished we had booked one of the rooms in the newer west facing rooms - that would have been better for us as we found that the sun on our patio was too hot during the main part of the day without any shade (no room for a parasol) and then completely out of the late afternoon sun. We didn't use the gym but would have liked an indoor pool as it wasn't warm enough for us to take advantage of the pool - however, it was pleasant to relax by the pool where there are comfortable loungers and parasols with towels provided and drinks and snacks available.
The breakfasts were excellent! We enjoyed several lunches on the terrace at the garden pavilion - there were fleecy throws put on each chair to keep off any chill breeze!

Room Tip: The newer west facing rooms have late afternoon and evening sun.

Our favourite hotel in Madeira. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens with a team of gardeners that seem tend it throughout the day. The staff are extremely pleasant and attentive to your needs and always smiling. We had a garden room which as the name implies, looks out into the garden. Each room has its own area with sun loungers so you can soak up the sun. Breakfast was a delight and the choice excellent with fresh fruit and cooked options. Having breakfast outside in the gardens it's hard too believe your in a city! The restaurant offers fine dining and well worth the gastronomic experience. It was pleasant to sit on the deck bar after evening meal and enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the glittering lights of Funchal. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is calm and peaceful. A perfect place to relax. We will return.

Room Tip: All rooms are well positioned and enjoy the sun at some point during the day.

This is probably the best 5 Star hotel we have stayed in. From the moment we arrived to when we left seven days later we were treated as welcome guests by the friendly and efficient staff.

The setting of the hotel, in sub-tropical gardens kept immaculate by a large team of gardeners, is magical; you would never guess when walking around it that it was in a city. On arrival we were escorted to our room by one of the reception staff and given an introduction to everything in the room and also what was available in the hotel - I have not experienced that level of service before.

Breakfast on the terrace was an occasion to taste a wide range of fresh fruits and Madeiran foods that you probably wouldn't find anywhere in UK outside of London. Dinner was also a gastronomic experience not to be missed.

We look forward to visiting this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms 301-307 and 400 are on the first floor so have better views than those on ground floor
