“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We stayed here for five nights and had a great time. Upon arrival the staff offered us a deal to upgrade to a higher-level (10th floor) room with a beautiful view of the Atlantic, which was nice. The bedroom was clean and nicely laid out, as was the bathroom and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was really lavish and it was great to sit by the sea every morning. The staff were very helpful in locating bus times and calling taxis for us. The location was great in terms of locating good restaurants although it was a bit of a long walk into Funchal (but a short taxi or bus ride away). We didn't take advantage of the pools as it was a bit chilly but they looked lovely and it was great to just sit by the sea and soak up the sun.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a weekend trip to Madeira. Great location with fabulous sea views in all the rooms. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. Room was nicely appointed, clean and modern. Giant king size beds too. Too early in the season to sunbathe although the sun terrace looked great!

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view, but the higher rooms get the best view out to sea and along the coast

A welcome break from a very long English winter! Fantastic food, views, pools and sea access. I love to swim in the sea so it was lovely to be able to do this straight from the hotel. Clara on reception was especially welcoming and helpful. Easy walk or bus into town and plenty of local restaurants for all budgets near by. Happy hour was good start to the evening too with very nice cocktails! Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We stayed at Vidamar for 5 days to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary although the weather was not great the hotel and all the staff were first class,Friendly and very professional with nothing to much trouble. The hotel is close to Funchal and the local bus service is close by and easy to use,The food is 5 star standard. We upgraded to a superior room with a fantastic sea view and so quite you need to book a wake up call to avoid missing breakfast. We cant wait to return to this hotel for our next holiday.

Room Tip: High Floors have better sea views

Our one week stay at Vidamar gave us exactly what we had hoped for: relaxation in a quiet and modern environment, with all possible facilities within handreach. We could benefit from a lovely seasight and our room was very spacious and tidy at all times. Very fine food, kind and helpful staff further completed our summary: a nice spot to stay at ánd to return to.

After a very stressfull winter, hard work, awful weather in England and finally illness, my husband and I needed a week in the sun to chill out. We have been to Madeira many times, and managed to book a week in this wonderful hotel just 2 days before leaving. There was not one thing we could fault. Spotlessly clean, excellent food, something to suit everyone. Plenty of space, so even possibile to escape rowdy children. Beautiful gardens, spectacular sea views- supplement for seaview room well worth it. I would go back tomorrow, and highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Sea view room worth the extra. Middle block gets better sun. Fourth floor and above best.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days in March and were very pleased with it. It is within walking distance to funchal. We upgraded to a higher floor with wi fi and the view was fantastic well worth the upgrade. The weather wasnt fantastic when we were here so we never got to use the outside pools. The spa was great.i would certainly come here again.

Room Tip: Thebhigherbthe floor the better the view
