great hotel. we have stay in a great many 5 star hotels and this is definitely one of the best. decor is stylish italian desinger feel. staff are really helpful and friendly. food is excellent but the wine list is not as good as it could be.
recommend the spa and fitness center.

Terrific location. Enjoyed 30 minute stroll to old town.
All rooms have sea and sunny aspect. Spotlessly clean.
Each member of staff was wonderfully friendly and efficient.
Austere decor was not to our taste as prefer 5* luxury.

Our time in Madeira was made even more special because we chose to stay here at Vidamar. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the hotel is so relaxed you feel like you are at home. The Spa and the facilities are so amazing that even if it rains outside you still feel like you have so much to do, you are always relaxed. Our room was the best i have ever stayed in with tea,coffee making facilities and the view of the sea was breathtaking i dont want to leave. the bed was huge for 2 people and the bathroom was perfect for a couple and especially for a girl with mirrors and light perfect for getting ready for dinner. The staff make the hotel a special gem, It was my birthday here and they surprised me with a bottle of bubbles and chocolate cake. So happy I spent my 25th here and I couldnt have wished for a better Birthday! We will definitly come back not only to Madeira but to Vidamar. Great if you live in a busy city and need to chill out and feel pampered!

Very nice and helpful staff, great breakfast every morning. We upgraded our room from 1st to 8th floor and that was a very good choice, awesome sea views. The spa was really nice and classy. Highly recommended hotel!
