Excellent in every way! A truly relaxing holiday - staff very friendly and always extremely helpful. Our 4th visit! Would always recommend bed and breakfast for freedom of choice. What more can we say but that it is a perfect holiday for relaxing, walking on the levadas or for just bumming about!

This hotel offered us so much more than we had expected. Our champagne and rose petals when we entered the room was a great welcome and the week just continued to get better.
We had booked bed and breakfast only because we didn't want to feel tied to hotel meals and times; it was a great choice for us. There are so many good places to eat within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
The Thomas Cooke rep was good and advised us well. We booked two day trips and a half day on his advice and we were not disappointed. These gave us the opportunity to see most of the island and it was worth the time investment. We saw so much of the island without any stress and in good company. They were also very good value.
The hotel suite was well appointed and very comfortable; a large bed which was good to sleep in. The little kitchen was more than adequate; the balcony overlooked the lovely gardens and the ocean, as described in the brochure.
The breakfasts were really high quality and provided a great start to every day. The fruits were fresh and different to what we would normally eat; the breads and pastries were fantastic. Cereals and cooked breakfasts were available and we did indulge sometimes but we had fantastic breakfasts without needing the cooked stuff. Coffee was plentiful.
Actually the coffee all over the island was wonderful and very well priced... loved it!
We will return to the same hotel at some point in the future; it was exactly what we wanted and so much more. Some great memories and an excellent staff.

Eden Mar/Porto mare is a wonderful place to stay.From the minute you walk through the door the smiling receptionists welcome you with friendly generosity. rooms are simply and tastefully comfortable with balconies overlooking the exotic gardens pools & sea.You can tell just how good the hotel is because you meet guests who return over and over and by the smiling staff who greet you in the restaurants who have worked there for years and look after you as if you are their favorite person with good humor and yet there are hundreds of us. Food is fresh tasty. We had an impressive conducted tour around the kitchens.No wonder the food looks and tastes so good. From listening to classic music played by students from the conservatoire to magic and moving folk music and dancing. The entertainment programe is varied. So much care has been taken to ensure we have an enriching stay from comfortable places to sit, inside and out &, sparkling swimming pools. I was so pleased to be able to have Portuguese lessons. My husband coached by an ex World class table tennis player on the entertainments team ensures we shall return . Water gym not only vigorous but the greatest fun. Great place .

We have stayed in this hotel twice my husband and I and two friends we love the porto bay so much we are coming back again in September for another two weeks.
This time we are staying at Porto Mare as Thomas Cook do not do the Eden Mar anymore only Thomson !!
The staff at reception, the pool staff everyone in the porto bay resort bend over backwards to help you they are all 1st class.
We stayed 27th August for 2 weeks and as the year before it was wonderful, we had a top floor room with fantastic views over the pool and sea.
We ate a few times in the hotel food, service and value was 1st class.
The only thing we didn't like was that they changed the sunbeds to wicker ones at the viewing point in the garden we all prefered the old ones as they were more comfortable, but you can't please everybody !!!
The four of us are counting the days till September so we can have another wonderful 2 weeks in Madeira.
