“Nice ride in the clouds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We where all on diffrent levels in the riding. But we got the opportunity to trott and canther if we wanted to, witch we did. Really nice horses!! well feed and taken care of at the stabel. They have both Ponys and Horses. A diffrent way to se Madeira from the Horseback. Friendly owners that guide us though the reservate where we sometimes ride close to the cloudes.

“Amazing first experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

My wife and I took the shorter (1.5 hr) trail yesterday. Both complete riding novices, this was an amazing experience. You have the tendency with trip advisor to think things are 'to good to be true' but the whole adventure from Paulo's friendly and wise instructions, to the lovely horses and breathtaking scenery made this an experience to remember. So if you are first time on a horse and considering this, go for it you will have the time of your life (: Gavin & Kasia.

“A day to remember and worth every penny!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

My partner and I went out on the 3 hour trail ride today and it was basically a holiday experience that we will never forget! We are both complete beginners and were reassured from the very first phone call when we booked that this wasn't a problem. This truly deserves the highest rating on trip advisor and when you see the set up and experience something so wonderful you realise that it is worth every penny, no question. We could have spent the 3 hours with the dogs, but we weren't at all rushed and then introduced to our horses. The trail we were taken along was breathtaking, from imposing forests, along the levada to breathtaking views and wonderful peace and quiet, we only saw 2 walkers the whole time! Our horses were fantastic and whilst several reviews talk about them being quite spirited they are still easy for a complete novice to control with Paulo's instruction. We would thoroughly recommend it, something we will always remember once the sore bottoms have gone :-) thank you and good luck, you thoroughly deserve it. Marie & Mike

“Fantastic horses, breathtaking views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We were picked up at our hotel by Paulo and driven swiftly into the mountains to a fabulous location for the stables. We were met by 14 dogs that Paulo and his wife have lovingly looked after as many were strays. During the journey to the stables Paulo has spent time assessing our abilities, I had some though from 20+ years ago, though Robert had never been on a horse. With our mounts chosen we mounted and received some basic but thorough instructions. We set off on our ride up into the mountains and levada's, the views were stunning the very eastern point of Madera, the Desertas islands and the Lauresilva Forest. Throughout the trek Paulo's knowledge and guidance were invaluable, far too quickly the trek was over and we were saying good bye to horses and dogs. Would definitely revisit if in Madera again, fantastic time had.

“So good to be back for a ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

I visited Madeira last week and as I always do when I'm there, went for a trail ride.I took the 3 hour ride this time and was taken out to the mountains with Paulo. It was wonderful to see the dogs, horses and Paulo again.I rode my old friend Apolo, who can be a bit lazy sometimes but when asked,he picks up and is a horse that you can trust 100%.He is just so kind to people and his fellow horses.
We saw lots of sheep this time,in fact Paulo described it as the ''sheep Grand National''.Despite the weather being a bit mixed, sunshine and drizzle from time to time,we managed to have a very clear view of Porto Santo island. The levadas and hill paths were very slippy and muddy partly due to the wet weather there lately,so we had to tread carefully, especially going down the hills.
I had a wonderful time riding in the lovely nature of beautiful Madeira in good company.I will return in March next year.
