“Great Location for a Lazy Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

This Italien restauarant is in my favourite spot in Funchal between R D Carlos 1 and R Santa Maria overlooking Corpo Santo Chapel near Sao Tiago Fort. It is so quiet and peaceful of an afternoon that it is hard to believe the city is so near. Steak on a stone & pizzas are a speciality but the bolo do cacos was my lunch time favourite. Give it a try if you fancy a nice peaceful lunch - it is well worth running the gauntlet of the other restaurants.

“the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2011

We\ ALWAYS make sure we visit this wonderful restaurant when we go to Madeira. Highly recommended. We are veggies but eat fish. every meal has been great. and as for their 'Poncha' the best on the island!!!! Nothing fancy to look at from the outside, but don't be put off by that.

“Shame About Takeaway Delivery Bikes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2011

We have travelled to Madeira for over 10 years, as a now 50 – 60’s couple, and have decided to document this years restaurant visits. Dining took place either late afternoon or early evening spread across a variety of establishments with bills costing between €33 and €83. Each visit included a bottle of wine, large still water and coffee.
Situated in the heart of the Old Town, atmosphere and ambiance rather spoilt by the arrival and departure of the take away delivery bikers.
Tagliatelle with chicken, bacon, mushroom, sweetcorn & cream €9.40 extremeley good. The meat canneloni €7.90 however contained little meat hence was nothing special. There was a small / moderate wine list however the wine requested was apparently not available and was recommended a .COM wine €12.50. Drinkable but nothing more. I do now notice before writing this review this wine was recommended to other diners!
Total Bill €33

“Little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

Lovely and clean - glassware and cutlery gleaming so obviously have staff who care from the owner downwards, service very good - attentive but not pushy and the food was excellent. We were looking for a specific wine we had had at another restaurant which they don't stock and we were recommended a .com red wine which was very reasonably priced and was as good as we had been told. Had the calzone and a pizza which were brilliant and passionfruit tart for dessert - they also do a take away delivery service which seemed very popular which would be great for self catering or rooms with kitchenette. Would absolutely recommend.

“Good value for money!”

Pleasantly surprised. Not much 2 look at, not posh tablecloths or chairs, but quality of food exceptional & reasonably priced. Hunt it out!
