“Excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

If you want a special dinner, with that little extra, then this is the restaurant to go to. It is situated next to the Casino Park Hotel. Varied menu and always have specials. around €30 per head for a 4 course dinner. I had the Lobster, beautiful.

“Good meal close to where we stayed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

We hadn't been here before and wanted somewhere quite close to our accommodation one night. It was not full, which is a pity. My husband asked for flambéed steak - and asked for it to be cooked rare. He got exactly what he asked for (which is quite unusual) and declared it delicious. We will visit again next year.

“A very enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

Casa Velha is literally on the doorstep of where we are staying and as a consequence has perhaps been overlooked as we sought out some of Trip advisors better recommended establishments. It shouldn't have been. Perhaps a little old fashioned in outlook but that's not to stay the staff were stuffy. They were not and were very friendly. My wife went for the Sea Bass which was served with boiled potatoes and beans. Myself I had a flambé pepper steak which was cooked as asked for.
Both meals were well prepared and of good quality. Almond cake and a fresh fruit salad finished off a very tasty meal. Not too expensive and with attentive staff it is a great place to go.

“Lovely small restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

we visited Casa Velha and Harry's Bar a number of times whilst staying in Funchal. Both the evening meal and lunch time in the courtyard were excellent.
Our evening meal - we were seated upstairs and the service was very good, friendly and attentive and the good was excellent. We tried their sister restaurant , which was also very good, but preferred Velha.
We called by for a late lunch and although close to closing time - were shown to a table and had a very good light lunch - best salad that I have had for ages! Again impeccable service.

“Exellent lunch time venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Whilst staying in Madeira again it is always good to visit Casa Velha. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the secluded courtyard and are always welcomed back by the friendly and attentive staff. There is a good selection of salads and sandwiches which are attractively presented and good value..
In the evening you can eat in the courtyard in the warmer weather or the upstairs restaurant which is decorated in the typical Madeira style. Again the food is excellent and well presented.in relaxing surroundings.
