“My favourite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Fresh seafood.
The best passion fruit pudding on the island
Perfect setting

When the sun shines there is no better place to be.

Squid so soft and tender you could think you were in heaven. And served with chips with a hint of garlic

Amazing prices.

Don't tell too many people. It should be an exclusive secret......... Perhaps :-)

“Fish ok - service poor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We ate here on our first night in Funchal, the fish was ok, preparation was good but the fish was a little overcooked. The biggest let down was the service, the waitress was so miserable and was clearing plates before we had both finished, she then processed the payment, still no smile! The only thing that appeared to make the staff spring into action was the arrival of a local 'mafiosa' and his moll!

“Great Location, Peasant Food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

They are trading on a great location while serving peasant food. No care taken at all, terrible vegetables and you can have any kind of fish you want so long as it is Black Scabbard Fish. I doubt that they would be in business long if they did not have a constant stream of new tourists arriving every week. This was our second worst meal in Madeira out of 14.

“perfect setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

used this restaurant twice whilst in funchal in october. fish restaurant situated overlooking the sea, open all day. at night this lovely restaurant comes into its own and the sunsets were breathtaking..... as well as the food.

family owned restaurant for 35 years now run by original owners' daughter and son,who is the chef. definitely need to book at night to get best tables overlooking sea. staff are fast and funny, nothing too much trouble even bought hot water and cloths when my husband knocked red wine over me! seafood is lovely, we had scrabbard, think this is spelt correctly, which we saw in the fish market and a platter of seafood, both excellent. very reasonably priced.

a reallly authentic old style madeiran restaurant, cannot recommend too highly

“Fresh fish and seafood in ocean-side setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Excellent seafood, pleasant service and spectacular views over the Bay of Funchal in this restaurant perched over the sea, just before the pedestrian tunnel which leads to Camara De Lobos.
