With the new glass platform, you can walk 580 meters above sea level. Easily accessible due to parking and nearby bus stops. Its worth a stop if you are driving around the island with your rental car, but also people like me living in Madeira like to sometimes visit this place.
Standing on a glass platform 580 metres above sea level looking down on terra firma is a very strange experience, but one that is well worth doing, the views are stunning, I dont like heights but am so pleased that I went there, if you get the chance do it.
This newly renovated attraction is a must see! In reading other reviews, it seems well liked. My family enjoyed the excursion on the 29th of December 2012. A family member worked on the renovation and took us to see the end result. Nothing prepared me for what I was to see. Having visited there in the past, it was just a high seacliff with a view, that was all. Now it is truly an excellent site for those who are not afraid of heights. My significant other could not even attempt to walk on the glass platform even after his brother, who worked on the project, assured him it was safe. Just a note, there have been rumours the city will be charging for access to the glass platform in the near future so if you can, get out there while it's still free!
outstanding views, including a glass platform for the brave. The loos were closed and the area around them was in a horrid state, although it was Dec 28th so perhaps no staff available.
Much improved with new view point and glass floor. Cleaning process for floor is needed though. Huge drop to farming 580m below! Scary
