“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This place was a little difficult to find by address but it is in the centre of Funchal town in a square that adjoins a Museum. The building is interesting being huge glass panel walls for the inside and tables and chairs on the square outside.
The general menu is interesting with reasonable choice plus a day menu. Service was pleasant. The portion and the prices are very good.
At the end there is a small selection of sweets. One claims to be the best chocolate Brownie in town and you can even have a smaller portion for under 2 Euros if you want. Believe me it is the best I have ever tasted anywhere!

for a good value dinner /lunch this is ideal.cafe has a small but varied menu plus a specials board at excellent value.(starters eu2.00-5.00 mains eu7.00-12.00 sweets eu2.00-3.00).some of the so called tourist restaraunts should take a leaf out of the cafes book and put some variety into their menus.

“Locals eat here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Stumbled across this place as the nearby bar O Lecque was full. You need to get there early for lunch as it fills up with businessmen. Good choice of daily specials some of which you can have as a half portion. Open 10am - 2am closed Sunday. I had the biggest piece of salmon I had ever seen. Lovely place to sit overlooking the square. Different menu from others I saw in Funchal.

“Good location - excellent food - friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Located in the square opposite the church and adjacent to the Museum of Sacred Art, you could miss it as it sits below the level of the square. Don't be put off by the tables and chairs that look as if they've seen better days. Sit down, inside or out, and be fed the most wonderful food at a fraction of the cost you might expect to pay. The staff are excellent too. A new favourite haunt!

“Great food, nice atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

Would thoroughly recommend.

Very nice food. Not the usual tourist menu, and very reasonably priced. Good service, and a nice place to relax and enjoy the music.
