“Best Indian Food outside of India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

This Indian is tucked away up a steep incline next to the pingo dolce supermarket on the estrada monumental. It is a shame it is tucked away because it needs to be shouted about. We had tasted the local food which is very nice but can be bland at times. We fancied some spice so came here and then came back again !!! The place is nice, the owner is very charming but the food....oh my god it is to die for. I dont do too many excellent reviews but have to on this one. I have visited India and some of the food there is just phenomenal and this comes close. Its not your traditional 'English' Indian where everything can be too hot, overseasoned and generally the same where ever you go. There is a depth of flavour to everything and it is complex, the flavours dance on your tongue it is just plain delicious, Don't 'eat' here come and savour the food. And have the naan whatever else you have because they are traditional and a real taste of India. The other thing is the prices, compared to the rest of Funchal you can eat well at a reasonable cost here,

“Rather bland”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Visted here on last day as rated high in TA and our favourite restaurant was closed. Also had hankering for a bit of spice!
We asked for spicy food - not chilli hot but tasty. We had a lamb curry and chicken madras. It all tasted the same however, very bland, like a stew. The mixed vegetables were the most tasty part. At least the dishes were not swimming in oil as they often are in UK.
The owner was very friendly and chatty and the meal passable but woud not revisit

We ate here twice. The food is very good and staff extremely helpful. It is up a small street but worth finding.

“very good Indian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Family run and friendly, tables nice and spread out (what is it with Funchal!). We live in Yorkshire where the Asian food is exceptionally good, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good this was. A little slow to serve, but the menu does say to expect to wait 30-40 mins for your food.

“Very decent curry”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We sought this curry house out after reading the very positive reviews and weren't disappointed. Nice restaurant, pleasant staff and very good food. Well worth a visit.
