“Great bed, slept like a log”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

Booked a room with two beds but had a mix up on dates (arrived a day earlier than the booking date - time diff across continents). So, was given a suite with a king (sadly at a higher price than booked). An extra twin was brought in (there was plenty of room) at no extra charge (but again room rate was higher than twin room rate). The hotel was quiet, clean, and offered very nice toilettries. The king bed was soooo comfortable, one of the best hotel sleeps I've had in quite some time. The bedding actually had a sheet as well as the blanket/duvet so you didn't have to crank up the AC to stand using the covers. A very nice breakfast was also included. The location was very good - right in the heart of the tourist area. Easy walking to restaurants/shops etc. There was only 1 free internet kiosk which often had a short queue of folks for use.

Certainly, by far, the ugliest building in Sintra - how did they allow this? But the rooms inside made up for it. Our room was large, clean, the furniture a bit dated - that doesn't bother us. Lots of drawer and closet space. But the most wonderful thing was our HUGE terrace with two loungers with pillows and the incredible view of Sintra with the castle above (room 706). Since we had nice weather, we took advantage and lounged outside for a few hours on two afternoons just enjoying the view.

Breakfast was large both hot and cold food. Eggs Rancheros -yum and great coffee. Nice room with great view. The only problem was the directions from the airport to Sintra. Probably got from mapquest - couldn't find many of the streets....

This hotel is placed directly on the city centre. The place is perfect to go to any existing park there, some by foot or bus. The room was very clean and is very comfortable.

This is a nice hotel with really lovely views. Very convenient to the historical center.

Parking in Sintra is difficult, so having parking with the hotel is perfect.

Only thing I would remind people about is--with views, comes sun and heat. If you travel in the summer, be advised that this hotel's Air Conditioning is typical for Europe--a fan that blows through the heater ducts. Also, there is no plug in the bathrooom for ANYTHING but razors. But open the door to let fresh air in, bring a small mirror to be near the other plugs in the room, and your visit will be amazing.

Loved Sintra! and if you are in reasonably good heath you can walk to most of Sintra attractions from the this aesthetically out of place hotel. A good sized Mod style hotel in the center of historical Sintra built in the 1970's. Don't let exterior pictures fool you it really is a city center hotel & quite nice! Rooms & bathrooms are a good size by American standards, many with balcony & fabulous valley views. Very clean & comfortable. Located right across from Sintra Palace. Very nice breakfast. Lovely view from the lobby bar area, it also has a nice balcony. Good place to sit & relax after a long day of climbing & exploring Sintra, have a late afternoon cup of coffee with some of yummy local pastais and watch the day wane. While in Sintra make sure you got to Quinta Da Regaleira the house & grounds are whimsical, a Labyrinthic Grotto, secret under ground tunnels, Initiates well, this place is not to be missed!

sintra really is a magical city.

Tivoli sintra is a great hotel! The rooms are really big, compared to other hotels, the beds are also signicantly larger. The bathroom is also quite spacious.

A few negatives I can think of include the bell tower. Every half an hour or so, the bell rings, even though I requested a room far from it, I was still able to hear it at times but that's no biggie. Another thing is the paid internet. It kinda sucked that whenever I wanted my facebook fix, I had to go all the wway down to the business centre to use the internet for free.

By the way, do not skip the milanese spaghetti from the resstaurant, it is to die for. the location is perfect, literally a minute walk from the national palace, perfect restaurant.
