“Unique in a strange way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

Epitomized the grand squandering of the people's resources by the nobility in the pursuit of the near architecturally useless and self indulgent. Devoid of the unique authenticity of some the, anything Gaudi.

“fascinating look into history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Make sure to have enough time to visit both the castle and the grounds. We rented the audio guide, and that provided us with interesting and fun facts. All the rooms in the castle was very different, making sure you didn´t catch the "castle fatuige" you can sometimes get.. Even more stunning than the castle itself was the grounds. Thankfully we made time to explore it and was amazed. We meet very few people doing so making the expirience more like exploring, less like walking in a queque.

“Stunning place to visit on a day trip from Lisbon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Sintra is a town 40 min ride from Lisbon Rossio train station. You can buy train ticket or train and bus ticket return .. Recommend to buy train return and bus one way when you arrive to Sintra and walk done from palace down to city. Pena is amazing architectural and color building. Amazing towers, views and exposition. Real great place to visit. Coffee shop with a view .

“Visit in the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Very nice castle situated in Sintra, near Lisbon. Build by the moors when they invaded the south of Europe. After this time, the castle was modified by some other invader. The building have several architectural style and a lot of colours. Their is several other ruins of another castle around the site. You can spend a whole day by visiting all the ruins, and their is also a lot of path in the wood, around the castles. The only "bad" thing is that the prices are very highs cause it's one of the most visited place in Portugsl

“Great loction great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Takes some getting to and I would advise using the bus inside the park to get from the gate house to the Palace as the route is very steep. Either way the journey was worth it as the views of the surrounding countryside are spectacular. The inside is also quite spectacular and has alot of interesting art work. Athe moment the place is going through a renovation process but this did not interfere much with the visit. The grounds are also worth a visit as they well maintained nice to look at
