“A fairytale stay in SIntra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Villa Branca Jacinta is a gorgeous bed and breakfast place to base yourself in the fairytale town of Sintra. We recently spent 4 nights with Maria here and loved every minute of it. As a hostess, Maria is perfectly welcoming and will help you to enjoy your stay with sightseeing tips and honest country hospitality.
The room we had overlooked the garden, was simply but tastefully decorated and the bed comfy. Each of the rooms has an ensuite.
Enjoy a fresh and cooked breakfast that's deliciously filling to start your day.
I commented to Maria that her loquat tree was laden and the next morning she had fresh loquats for me at breakfast. She is lovely like that.
Maria also speaks 5 languages fluently, so no worries with misunderstandings.
Our tip for finding Villa Branca Jacinta is to download her map before you go. As her gate is not numbered, find number 5 then work back one property from there and push the button on the big metal gate for Maria to let you in.
We found the location ideal for Sintra. Out of the busy, noisy older city area yet still easy access to everywhere as we did not have a car.
Would i stay at Villa Branca Jacinta again? Definately!

Room Tip: It's all beautiful.

We had a very nice stay in Sintra in this very beautiful villa! Rooms are furnished with very good taste, clean and cosy, the breakfast is one of the best we had during our trip. The house is in a very calm neighborhood,, kept by a very very nice dog, and is well situated. Maria is very talkative - in french with us - and made us discover places that were amazing! A great stop!

Maria is a wonderful host and Villa Branca Jacinta is a great place to stay. The location is pretty much perfect - right in between the historic center and Sao Pedro, so it's easy to walk to both. The Villa itself is very nice and rooms are very clean and comfortable. Maria has many recommendations - follow them! Everything she recommended, we loved. And her breakfasts' are delicious :)
If we return to Sintra (and I hope we do some day!), we would most definitely stay with Maria again.

We had a wonderful time in Sintra, made even better by our stay at Villa Branca Jacinta. Maria was warm and wonderful and so was the room. She was a very welcoming host, as was her beautiful and friendly golden lab, Astaire. Maria guided us to some local restaurants for dinner and served up an amazing breakfast each morning. Freshly-squeezed orange juice, fresh strawberries, breads, homemade preserves, ham and cheese, crepes and/or galettes. I loved Sintra and Maria's hospitality and would happily give high marks to Villa Branca Jacinta. You can walk to the Palacio Nacional in the old town in about 20 minutes and some quaint regional restaurants in 10. Sintra has so much to see! We couldn't fit it all in during our two and a half day visit to this area. Just one note... You cannot see the house from the street so you have to trust your SatNav/GPS to get you to the right address. Ring the buzzer/intercom at the gate and Maria will come and open the gate to greet you. It's in a quiet residential neighbourhood so it's a bit off the beaten track, but that's a good thing!

Stayed for one night for a friends wedding nearby in Colares. Maria was extremely helpful and friendly, and accommodated our early check in and late return on the wedding day which helped us out no end. The villa itself is beautiful, traditional with modern touches, and comfortable. Really well decorated, quiet and tranquil. We did not get to see much of Sintra as the wedding took most of our time, but what little we saw (Sintra centre and the Pena palace) was outstanding in its beauty. Breakfast was fantastic and filling. Hopefully we will return to Sintra one day to explore more thoroughly, and if we do, we will certainly come back here.

We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful colonial house with a super friendly landlady, Maria and her dog. The guests rooms are upstairs and are simple clean and elegantly presented with parking on a quiet road outside the entrance.
We were the only couple staying at the time so it felt very intimate and tranquil. Breakfast was laid out beautifully with warm crepes, fruit and lovely bread, it was like our own private retreat. Maria gave us helpful tips on restaurants and the history of the area. The walk into the old town is approximately 15 mins but it’s such a scenic walk and in March the smell of orange blossom was intoxicating. We loved spending time in Sintra and the surrounding area and would not hesitate to stay at Villa Branca Jacinta again.

This old colonial building used to house the city archives of Sintra. it now has 4 simple, comfortable and individually furnished rooms on the second floor with views across the valley to Palacio de Pena and Castillo de Moros. Floors are polished wood, white shutters on the windows and modern spotless bathrooms.. the whole atmosphere is one of tranquility and calm.
A great place to relax after visiting the myriad of castles, parks and manor houses in this beautiful area.
Don't expect cable TV or a bar in the room, but do expect a good breakfast, a friendly, attentative but discreet landlady, Maria, and a garden that is slowly being brought back to its orginal glory.
There is parking in the quiet street outside, good communications with bus and train and Lisbon airport only 20 kms away, but in another world.
Looking forward to returning!

Room Tip: Each room is unique with beautiful views. You might hear barking dogs as you drift off to sleep, but...
