We stayed four nights at the pousada and ate at the restaurant twice. The setting is atmospheric and well set out, making a feature of the massive original chimney. Service by the Maitre d' was excellent and he spoke excellent English. He also suggested a couple of places in Lisbon to buy Portuguese wines. Whilst there were very few people eating in the restaurant in the middle of November (no problem for me!) the food was excellent on both nights. It's unfair to single out the range of desserts on offer but I am a dessert fiend and the menu offered a "have what you like" choice so I had what amounted to an assiette and thoroughly enjoyed them.
The restaurant offered a special menu for November with three courses for two people for 29 euros (I think) as well as the a la carte version. The special menu was outstanding value with no diminution in the quality of cooking. It didn't leave me feeling like another course afterwards - I asked first and was assured that I wouldn't. The a la carte menu is not cheap but, again, the food is excellent quality and the presentation well arranged. Overall, I'd suggest excellent and good value for money for the two meals respectively.
