“a good hotel in a charming place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

We booked 3 nights but we stayed 5, the place is sooo charming. The hotel is clean, few rooms have a nice view from the window, a good breakfast, open air pool, few garage places. The pool and the sunbeds needs to be cleaned more often. From our room we could hear very loud the neighbours, in their rooms and passing on the hall... so, if you are lucky you have a quiet night , if not .....The matresses are hard, the pillows not confortable.
But is was a nice vacantion, in a nice hotel !!!!

Room Tip: The rooms close to the pool may hear the pump engine , the rooms looking to the street and to the ol...

I wanted to take our room home with us! They were very kind, attentive and the room was out of this world! We had 102 and were very disappointed they were booked and we could not add another night. Two nights there was like living in a fairy tale. The midevil theme was well stated and not tacky (we've been to those places) and I just can't say enough about staff. They even gave me the recipe (and translated it) for one of the cakes I LOVED at breakfast. Best breakfast buffet of our entire month long stay in spain and Portugal. The terrace has a pond with turtles and you can admire the walls from there. Parking wasn't too difficult and the do have a computer for your use.

Room Tip: From what I can tell, each room could be considered the "best". You have to reserve in ad...

The owners of Hotel Real D'Obidos have adopted a medieval theme which adds to your visit to a the walled town. Each room is named after an historical figure. There are wonderful facilities - pool, solarium, garden, parking - and stunning views of the countryside and town wall.
There is a bit of a steep climb to the main street of the town, but this adds to the experience! Great location.
The staff are most helpful and friendly and will pose for a photo of you with your magnificent room key beside the armoured knight !!
This is a Real find ! Loved every minute.

Room Tip: Rooms 201-205 have superb views.

This hotel is a located at the bottom of the the town. The rooms are light and spacious . Friendly and helpful staff. The only disappointing thing is the charges for extras such as safe deposit box in your room. Underground paking available, but needs to be reserved as limited.

We stayed here for 2 nights during our holiday in Portugal and it was the nicest hotel of our holiday. It has a perfect location just outside the castle gates, lovely clean rooms, a quirky medieval theme and really friendly and helpful staff. The pool outside is lovely to relax by during the day. All in all I'd highly recommend this hotel and Obidos is a lovely place to stay for a couple of nights.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2009

It's been five years since we traveled to Portugal and stayed at the Hotel Real D'Obidos. A Portuguese friend recommended we stay there and it was the best decision of our two weeks in Europe. The rooms are oversized and extremely comfortable but it was the staff that made all the difference. One, whom we later discovered was the owner, overheard us talking about driving down to Lisbon for the day. He immediately got on his cell phone and in five minutes, asked us if we could go the next day instead. If we could, he'd have his secretary give us a guided tour of Lisbon! How could we not take him up on his offer!

This type of service was very typical of our stay. We came back from an early dinner one evening to discover they hold a Medieval Event once a month. They immediately invited us to join in the festivities though we hadn't paid to attend. The entertainment was excellent and it was obvious the owner took great pride in his hotel and their hospitality. The following morning, he invited my daughter to participate in the children's archery competition and took her aside to give her some pointers!

Everyone associated with this hotel are exceptionally service oriented. By the time we left, we were on a first name basis with the entire staff. I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough.

By the way, their breakfasts were incredible!
