“Our real home in Portugal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

We (2 people) were 4 nights at Casa d'Obidos, which is e dream-location. Very quiet and rural and also very near Obidos. There are restaurants in walking-distance. You can also walk to Obidos along a special path. The main-building looks very nice with antique furniture etc. There are some rooms in the building and also 3 little houses to rent. We had choosen the little cosy house:Teresinha. There's a living room with kitchen and a sleeping room and very near the main-building. The Casa is famous because of the amazing breakfast. The lady of the house, Mariana, is always present and can give you many information about the region. From the Casa you have a beautifull sight of the town with its castle. This location was for us the best during our 3 weeks travel in Portugal. We kindly recommend the Casa d'Obidos to everyone.

Room Tip: All rooms and houses are quiet. On the Casa-website you can see the pictures.

Large country home. Shared areas including lounge and breakfast room. Maybe 6 or 7 rooms in total. View across the flat plain to Obidos surrounded by its walls. The breakfast was a feast. Surrounded by lush gardens including a pool. Short drive to nearby towns on the coast and also short drive to Lisbon. Room clean and furnished in old style of house. Staff friendly.

Set in a beautiful rural valley with a magnificent view of the walled city of Obidos and its castle in every direction---an easy 30 minute walk away---Casa d’ Obidos has the warm feeling of a traditional 19th century Portuguese manor home. The architecture and the well selected antique furniture in cozy bedrooms with modern facilities and the common areas are a traveler’s delight. There is also a living room to meet friends and guests, to enjoy some wine or port and a snooker table to test your skills. Outdoors there are tennis courts and a swimming pool to enjoy.
Mariana, the Inn Keeper, has an engaging personality making you feel right at home. You’ll start the morning with a generous breakfast with many varieties of breads, jams, juices, coffee, tea plus traditional Portuguese meats and cheeses that will satisfy your appetite and get you started exploring this serene bucolic area of Portugal. A stay at the Casa d’ Obidos is definitely a 5-star experience.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

We stayed for two nights in Casa Teresinha. The property is conveniently located to see the great old town of Obidos, just a short walk uphill. The casa is plenty large for two with a separate kitchen/living area. The bedroom was clean and pleasant with windows opening onto the neighbors property. We had expected to have the kitchen a bit better stocked, though, with at least some staples (olive oil, vinegar or similar items) and it wasn't, requiring us to buy quantities of things we could never use in a week, let alone two days. The fresh bread in the morning was a nice touch. The pool was nice to have, although it was cool when we were there. There is a small patio area outside the casa, but the ground outside is quite dusty, so I'm not sure how long one would want to sit out there. All in all, it was a reasonably priced place, close to Obidos and a short drive to our next destination (Sintra/Lisbon). If you are planning to stay only a few nights, I'm not sure you'd want a casa with kitchen unless you have staples with you or don't mind buying things that you will leave. Otherwise a room may be a better option, although we never saw one so can't offer an opinion as to that. I'm not sure we'd stay again, although that may have more to do with limited things to see in the immediate area than Casa d'Obidos.

Casa d'Obidos is a beautiful country manor, functioning as a guest house bed and breakfast, conveniently located in the beautiful fields at the foot of the hill on which sits the amazingly well-preserved medieval town of Obidos, Portugal. If you are on your way to Lisbon by car, or can arrange an overnight trip from Lisbon to Obidos, I thoroughly recommend staying at this magnificent place. The location is so beautiful, right in the middle of vineyards and fields with a terrific view of the town. The bedroom and bed were comfortable, the bathroom ample and well-appointed, and the breakfast fantastic -- one of the most generous and delicious of our entire stay in Spain and Portugal. In easy walking distance are several excellent restaurants. Highest possible recommendation!
