“Valentine's Dinner in Lisbon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

Was our first night out in Lisbon and Valentine's Day dinner...Charming hosts and were greeted with glass of bubbly upon arrival...Menu explained and sommelier on hand to go through wines and aid selection...Exquisite meal from start to finish; capped off by excellent selection of desserts...small gift upon leaving was very nice touch...will revisit when next in Lisbon and highly recommended....

“Tasty food in a peaceful environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

It's a beautiful space and the service was excellent, if a little slow at times- but hey, this is Portugal. We were given a glass of bubbly on arrival, which is a nice touch, and were able to relax with our drinks in the comfy reception area. The restaurant is very quiet, not too many staff milling about, which can be a bit frustrating if you want to ask for another drink or whatever but it's ok if you're just after a leisurely evening.

The food itself is delicious and well presented. I started with the ceviche, moved onto the confit duck leg, and we finished with some "sweet things" and a couple of cheese boards. Our friendly waitress was run off her feet as she was the only one working, but she didn't show any signs of stress. She was able to make excellent wine recommendations, giving us a lovely dry rose for our starter and a nice full bodied red for our mains. As well as two tasty ports to go with dessert.

It was definitely an experience to visit, and one that I'd certainly recommend.

“Too high expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Very nice restaurant. But the execution of the food itself really let us down. We expected more... We were with 7 people and took different dishes (pre- and main dish). While the menu itself was quite exciting, the flavour and presentation of the dishes was below expectations. Though I have to say the staff and overall ambient was very, very good.

“Inventive, delicious food in wonderful relaxing atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

This is a delightful restaurant, which I highly recommend for its food and ambiance. The menu consists of gourmet dishes based on Portuguese and Italian cuisine. They are wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. I had the white bean, codfish, ginger soup as an appetizer and then the pampo (fish) with black beans, chorizo and lemon risotto, and finally the chocolate "soup" dessert, all of which were really delicious. The other three people in our group had appetizers such as clam congee and sauteed baby squid, and entrees such as the black pork loin with beans and apple, and asparagus and black pork sausage risotto. Tasting the black pork loin, it seemed a bit dry to me, but the others really liked their dishes, though perhaps not as much as I loved mine. The wine list was an excellent selection of well-chosen Portuguese wines, all at reasonable prices, and most are not found at other restaurants; many are also served by the glass. For four full meals with two very good bottles of wine the total cost was about 180 Euros, or 45 Euros per person, which was very reasonable for such a high quality meal. The service was very friendly, helpful and efficient; a point was made that we could take however long we wanted. Seating is in three areas: two very cosy small rooms like at the old Clube (we sat in one of these) and one larger, renovated room. The tables are spaced well apart. It is clear that the owners and chef take pride in their food and wine and want their guests to have a very relaxing, enjoyable and delicious meal.
