“Well worth the tiny wait!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Queues are always a good sign:) It moved super fast and to say that this tart was amazing is an understatement. I suggest grabbing a couple and walking across the road to the little park to enjoy it. The cafe is busy and crowded.

“the best Portuguese tarts!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

I have tried a few places in Lisbon, and Casa Pastesis De Belem is the best! The custard is rich and milky, and much more intense in flavour than other tarts. The take away queue is long, so go to the back of the cafe as there are more seats there.

“Don't queue!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Great "Pastel de Belém"!!

If you see a lot of people queuing, don't stop there, just enter the restaurant. There are plenty of rooms inside the restaurant when you follow the corridor at the end of the entrance. The waiter will come to your table and you will enjoy your pastel de nata with the drink you prefer, comfortably seated and with no hurries or queues.

The price is above portuguese standards.

“Best portuguese tarts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Try stopping at one! Worth catching the no. 15 tram down to Belem just to experience the taste. Can get very crowded but worth the wait.

“Must Do Along w/the Walk in Belem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Assuming any traveler to Lisbon will include the Belem landmarks in the itinerary (Torre de Belem, Monument of the Explorers/Waterfront walk and the Magnificent Monastery), I must recommend walking a few blocks to the right of the Monastery (facing the entrance w/the river behind you), and looking for the blue awnings. ....

There may be a crowd outside but don't let that scare/discourage you. Push through, go inside, and get seated....There are plenty of seats inside, as the place opens up dramatically w/additional rooms in the back.... Then order AT LEAST 2 Pasteis per person to go along your favorite beverage (excellent coffee BTW) and thank me later.... We visited the establishment in the summer of 2011, and have tasted the custards since then in many establishments around the world (inclu. Brasil, and Portuguese establishments all over the states).... None compared to the originals.... I can still taste them now!!! YUM.......

Hope this helps! KS
