“Great stop-off on the way to the Castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The staff accommodated the eight of us very well. Brilliant food in a very relaxed atmosphere. Service wasn't the fastest, but we accepted that as part of the relaxed vibe in the place.
Free wifi and a good drinks selection made this feel a little more like a cafe than a restaurant, but it suited our needs perfectly!

“A firm favourite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

Poís is a wonderful café in Alfama, just below the Sé on the river side, that attracts a mix of tourists and locals. It is in a super space, cosily furnished with vintage tables and chairs and comfy sofas, with books for taking and exchanging lining the walls. The sandwiches and salads are very good and a decent lunch with a drink and coffee to follow can be had for about €12 per person. There is plenty of choice for vegetarians.

“Friendly place, tasty food, good veggie options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

This is a special place, with a relaxed atmosphere and good-quality food. We went twice and were happy both times. Also a welcome option for vegetarians, as it has many meat-free choices. The quiche, salads, sandwiches and fresh juices were all tasty. This place is nice for a restful and healthy stop when touring the Alfama neighborhood.

“Quite expensive but a lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Pois café is in a fantastic location and it is well worth a visit if you are around the castle.

The atmosphere is fantastic, very relaxed and friendly. Everyone sits together, wherever they can and the staff are very welcoming.

I had a sandwich there which was quite expensive, though tasty. Drinks too are good but relatively pricey for Lisbon. Unusually for Lisbon where you can enjoy food for much less, the place was crammed with people, mostly younger college people.

Well worth a visit.
