“Restuarant with "Fado" experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Ate in this restuarant on the recommendation of our bed and breakfast. Lovely meal in a small unprepossing place. Easily missed if you don't know where to find it. Pedro made four Scots feel very welcome. Recommendation was great as the food was very good. What made it remarkable was our introduction to "Fado" music from two accomplished musicians and two great singers (one male and one female). All were outstanding; but we must give a special thanks to the young female singer, who at 16 years of age gave an absolutely outstanding performance which was full of emotion. We all felt very privileged to listen to the music and eat lovely food.

One thing to watch out for though was the fact that smoking appears to be allowed. Thankfully we were all seated a distance from anyone smoking. If we had known this before we went then we would have given it a miss............but thankfully it did not spoil our enjoyment and our meal.

“Portuguese "home made food"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

I have always lived in lisbon and this small unpretencious restaurant never disappointed me in the last few years. Simple, good, tasty! Try "pataniscas de bacalhau" (codfish), "alheira" or the "filetes de peixe galo". For dessert, the chocolate cake is a must!
The worst about this restaurant is that smoking is allowed...

“so much to recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

This would have gone unnoticed but for the fact that it was in the neighbourhood where a friend/colleague was staying. Thanks to TA, I had this at the top of my list of eateries. Not that easy to find - and very unprepossessing from the outside and plain and rustic inside - but the food and helpful service were first class. We both opted for fish dishes and were rewarded with two good meals (Bacalhau and mine fried fish). We had left the choice of wine to 'very friendly lady owner' and she served a chilled Portuguese white wine which had body and depth. In order to complete 5 fruits a day, we both opted for the poached pear in Indian spices - delicious. And I finished with a fine port. All for under 60 Euros.

(The 727 bus takes you there on a 10 minute ride from Marquis de P - get off at Rua das Janelas Verdes, go up Rua Sao Joro da Mata and take first right - and keep going up that hill - it's then on the left.)

“Perfect venue to embrace Fado”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

A lovely modern restaurant with bridges to the past reflected by traditional food with a twist and Fado singers both young and veterans. There. Is passion and respect for both the food and the artists. Against a backdrop of stark white walls and colorful insets with blasts of color. Flickering candles and delicious wine made for a perfect birthday celebration
