“A very nice place to stay in Lisboa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

A recent stay (Oct 2012) at Açores Hotel in Lisbon was a very pleasant experience. Rates are very reasonable, staff is really kind and caring, it offers a tasty buffet breakfast and you can park for free at the hotel parking. Besides that, you have a metro station 50 mts away from the entrance and if you get a room in a high floor (mine was 9th) you'll be able to identify airline colours from plane bellies at arriving/departing jets about to land at/taking off from Portela Intnl Airport just a couple of miles away from the site. Mainly easyJet orange and TAP green and red during my stay.

Room Tip: Try to secure a room away from the hotel corners - wi-fi coverage seems to be far better in central...

A new, comfortable and moderately priced hotel that can provide a good night of sleep if that is what you need. In the lobby they sell products from the Azores Islands. It is close to a subway station and the Gulbenkian Museum.

The hotel is well located, 15 min by taxi from the city centre, 10 from the airport (you have to keep the windows shut but the insulation is well done).
The hotel is nice and comfortable, clean and spacious rooms and nice breakfast. Better to order food with room service than to go downstairs to the restaurant - but don't pay the room service in cash, just sign it, otherwise you might have problems at the check out. Metro station is just in front but taxi is so cheap (5E to the centre) so don't bother. If you want to see the city easily, buy a day metro pass (also 5E).
Lisbon is nice but nothing that special.

Hotel was perfect. Food at the restaurant was really good and also the breakfast was great, we could find salty and sweet things including tipical Pastej de Nada, yogurt, cakes, fruit, eggs, bacon, cheese and ham. Room was wonderful with a nice view. Hotel staff were always available to provide clarification and help.I Needed to print a document and they gave me half hour of free internet and free access to the printer. We had two small issue with tv and air conditioning and the staff came immediately and quickly fixed them. Metro entrance is in front of the hotel.

The parking is not easy to find as it is behind the hotel but not indicated by any roadsign. The hotel park has limited spaces so we had to leave the car outside for 3 night out of 4.If you take the car in the morning and come back in the evening it will be difficult to find free places. You can park for free behind the hotel but keep attention as we found the small lateral glass of the car broken by vandalism in the morning (the same happened to all the car in the street). This leaded to a really stressed day with a waste of time and money to repair it. The main street in front of the hotel has limited places and you will have to pay the ticket there.

I stayed here for five days on a business trip.
Below you can find my impressions:

pluses:
-very convenient location: the hotel is not in the noisy and crowded downtown but in spite of this metro station is ten meters away as long as the airport shuttle stop.
-nice room with very good sound proof windows which is particularly crucial as airplanes are flying over all the time. Wide and clean bathroom.

to be improved:
-it is not clear whether the wi-fi internet connection is for free or not.
-breakfast room is tiny and you can happen to have to wait for a seat to be available. This means that sometimes tables are not cleaned properly.
-breakfast food selection and quality just on average.

overall impression:
-fairly good

Stayed recently in this hotel, that ha nice and tidy rooms with good housekeeping. The service in reception is attentive and the location almost in front of a Metro entrance in the blue line of subway from Lisbon, gives you the chance to move around the city very quickly and well. Breakfast ok, just the fact that you have to pay to use the Wi-Fi its not normal for a city/business hotel.

+ staff was generally friendly and welcoming, fast check-in and check-out
+ room quite small, no view, but a good bathroom (tub and shower in it), lots of electric plugs - a very underestimated convenience for traveller

- not quite central
- breakfast below average, horrible coffee, almost nothing to choose from
- no wi-fi

Definitely there are better options even at that price.
