“It's just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

When I travel from Warsaw to Fortaleza I have an obligatory 22h long layover in Lisbon. TAP airlines gives hotel for free. This time I got 4* VIP Executive Arts Hotel.
I got checked into handicap room. That means no bathtub. As I was with a 2 year old, I asked for a new room. Was moved to another one without any problems.
I quickly changed clothes and left with my baby girl to grab a bite.
We came back to the room later at night (around 9 pm). My girl was tired and cranky.
As she is lactose intolerant I had to buy her some special food. And then I noticed no fridge in the room. When I called the front desk they said, well it was broken so it's in the maintenance. I asked for another fridge. They said no. I asked for a new room. Which was also refused. So then I asked for a bucket of ice. I was told I had to pay 5 USD for a room service.
It's not about 5 USD but about the fact that they would give me a room without a fridge, and then wouldn't cooperate. That's ridiculous. Not sure if they did that because I was a TAP client so I did't pay for my stay.
Also TV reception was far from acceptable.
To sum up: hotel is in a good location that is definitely a plus, but I really hated the fact I got a crappy room, wasn't warned that it had no fridge, and people were not helpful.
Next time I'm in Lisbon will ask for a different hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side than railroad.

Were on holiday with a group.. Hotel centrally situated close to all amenities, including train station, various restaurants, coffee shops, large shopping centre or just a walk by the river. Room very spacious and clean. Stayed on half board basis. Breakfast was great but dinner left much to be desired especially the two main dishes always pork or cod fish cooked in different methods Asked for a front room but were given one at the back ( 10th Floor ) overlooking the train station. For a light sleeper you feel as trains almost run into the room. Certainly windows are double glazed but unfortunately our lock was broken and after being fixed temporarily still the noise kept coming in. Hotel in needs of refurbishing. All in all it was a nice holiday. .

Room Tip: Choose one facing the river

The hotel is ideally placed in the EXPO area of Lisbon. Close to the metro which will allow one easy access to the center. Close to a very nice area which includes a large shopping complex, Lisbon aquarium and a beautiful pedestrian area by the river. Hotel was clean, although the food left much to be desired. Would recommend eating out at one of the nearby restaurants rather than taking half board basis.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter especially if they are on the back of the hotel overlooking the train stat...

PROS:
- Great breakfast with variety of food selections
- TV with World Cup channels available - it was at a time of WOrld Cup in Brasil :)
- 10-15 mins to a Metro station
- Big Shopping Centre 10 mins away
- Room was good since, nice & clean
- Room service as expected
- Nice window view - river + apparently the longest bridge in Europe (I was on... 7th floor)

CONS:
- Can't recall any negatives - the furniture was quite old & if I can recall there might have have been a gentle smell of cigarettes lingering around

We asked for a quiet room and got one in the front on the 13th floor which had good views. Staff were helpful. Breakfast had a large choice but if you had the cooked breakfast it was cold.
You have to go into Lisbon by the metro or use the Open Bus Tours which we did for 2 days. The hotel is in a nice area with a view hotels around but not a lot to do in the evening.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front are quieter as the back of the hotel you hear the trains go past.

Good location in Lisbon, many restaurants around. The good thing is, that hotel has a garage with direct acces to the hotel. Decoration of the hotel is supposed to be arty, however, it is not very useful. Nobady used designers chairs, which were all arround. Te worst point is the breakfast. Not good at all.
