“Great setting”

Fantastic building in great setting, though we decided not to pay to go inside. Nice walks along riverside to and from village centre

“Great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

The Torre is found in the Belem neighbourhood (west Lisbon) and can be reached on the tram, by train or by bus. The tram is the most expensive - so check out the bus. Although the guide books indicated that you could not climb up to the top level - this was not the case - and the view was incredible. The circular staircase is very steep and narrow - so consider this before going to the top. Check out the gargoyles - they are great. There is a fee to go into the bottom level but they did not check for tickets to go up to the top. You can save about 3 Euro a person if you buy a ticket for the monastery in Belem at the same time as the Torre.

“Surrond by the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Built in 1515 as a fortress to guard the entrance to Lisbon's harbor,
You can by torre de belem + Mosterio dos jeronimos for 10,00 (best value).
Be prepared for so many steps to see the view upstairs.

“Pretty average”

The tower architecture was interesting enough to visit. The little posters with information about the tower were helpful.

“Super attraction”

A commanding vista for this fortress. Many great photo opportunities at this site. It was windy, so bring a light jacket, just in case!
