“Well worth seeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We visited to Belem Tower on what turned out to be a very rainy afternoon. However, we did go up to the top of it - not for the faint hearted as there are a lot of steps! Very interesting place and great view from the top.

“Take a tour of the Torre!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Was really lucky with this one. The attraction is free between 10am and 2pm on Sundays. I arrived at 1.55pm. The walk along the river towards the Tower is very scenic and is an escape from the throngs in Belem. You cross a wooden bridge to get to it with the waves splashing. The tower allows great views of Lisbon and the surrounding areas. It is worth climbing the steep and narrow stairs to the top for the views. The traffic light system for allowing people up and down the steps is a little funky but necessary. Well worth the stroll.

“Nice spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013 via mobile

Pretty spot on the water, there wasn't much to see in terms of the tower itself, pretty small and sparse- but it's a nice little spot to walk around

“Tourist Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Located near the military museum this is in a area for tourists who like history and being hustled by roma's selling scarves & sunglasses.Too far to walk to pasteis de belem but it is an interesting place.

“Must see on any Lisbon trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Belem is probably the most noteworthy part of Lisbon with a dense ensemble of sights in walking distance. Important to notice is to not go on Mondays (which we did), as everything will be closed and you have to return to see things from 'the inside' - also avoid weekends when cues are a mile long to buy one of the famous Pasteis de Belem (if there is no choice but to wait, then wait anyway, it is indeed worth it)
