“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

Only open between 11 am and noon, but it's worth the effort to get there.

Amazing tile work depicting heroic battles against the Spanish.

Informative tour guide, but the house looks a little in need of some love ( and money!).

Take some bread to feed the black swans, who will otherwise try to eat your toes if you let them.

Someone tell the Marquis to open a cafe :)

“Excellent!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

A must, if you like azulejos. Beautiful house and garden, the tour might be a little bit boring, but the whole experience is absolutely worth the trip. Make sure you check the schedule on the website before the visit: there are guided tours only, as it is still occupied property. The tours start at 11am and 12 am during fall/winter season. We took a taxi to get there, as it's slightly off any tourist attractions in Lisbon.

“Beautiful place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2014

The building of the palace was well maintained, nice garden, with beautiful old azulejos. Not a big place, so plan with a short visit.

“very particular place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

I loved this palace with its unique gardens and all the azulejos that decorate almost every single squaremeter.
The only "below" was our tour guide who really seemed to be bored as hel of doing her job which pushed our enthusiasm down a bit.
I loved that visiting this small villa one really feels that it is in use.

“House and garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

It was a public holiday, so the house and gardens were closed. It is hard to find, as everyone we asked, including taxi drivers, had not heard of it. Suggest you check through GPS for directions before going. It is in the Benfica district.
