“gardens were great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This was a fun tour, but not my favorite so far. I enjoyed the gardens very much, unfortunately we arrived when they were getting ready for wedding. The history of this house was interesting but not actually memorable. I loved the black swans that were there. They come right up to you looking for a snack. Our tour guide was very knowledgable. It took some time for the tour to get going despite us being told to return at a certain time to start the tour. The tour started at least 15 minutes late.

To get there from the Jardim Zoologica MTR Station take bus 770 or walk the road parallel to the railroad for 15 minutes until you see the blue and white pedestrian bridge to cross the the railroad.

“Pretty 17th century palace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012 via mobile

The #770 bus in front of Jardim Zoologica goes to the front door of this palace. The bus only runs every half hour. You're only allowed in the palace via guided tours and, in Oct, only 2 tours given daily so time your transport well. Tickets is €7.50 for inside the palace, €3 for just the gardens. Go inside! Our guide is very knowledgeable & spoke great English. Inside has lots of azulejos, paintings, and Rococo styled ceilings. A good stop away from the bustle of central Lisbon.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

It is a bit hard to get to the Palacio Fronteira. We took a taxi and it looked like it was out of town. Luckily there is a bus to go back to downtown and there is one bus once an hour, stopping in front fo the palace.

The palace itself was beautiful. However they do not allow any photography at all in the palace. I enjoyed seeing the azulejos in the Battle Hall.

The gardens were spectacular. There were many azulejos there and many classical statues. The Gallery of Kings has statues of the different kings of Portugal. There was a large pool and they had two black swans swimming there. Apparently they are pets of the current Marques. The gardens are formal and need a lot of maintenance. There are several fountains and it is fun just looking around the garden.
