“Great hotel - try the romantic package”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Stayed with the missus for a weekend in a what they called the "romantic package".

For an extremely good rate, we stayed for 2 nights and had access to the spa, as well as a tray of fruit and chocolate and a small bottle of champagne was waiting for us every evening.

Good location, with an excellent Brazilian-style churrascaria just 100m down the road.

It was in JAN 2010 that we were though, not sure if they have this romantic packages anymore, but worth calling them and asking.

Good 4 Star hotel located in the financial district of Lisbon. Good sized rooms, adequate gym and a pleasant bar and restaurant. Overall the staff are friendly and efficient. Where do I feel that some improvements are needed: towels are old and beaten, no internet for free, the bath amenitys are weak, breakfast could have better quality, starting by the juices which are watery and tasteless. Its pity, because the rest is quite good for a 4 star hotel.

Sana Malhoa is a lovely hotel although it's not located in the Lisbon center. It's in the financial district. The airport bus stops almost in front of the hotel but if you are travelling with at least 4 persons, it's better to take a taxi as the cost it's almost the same for taking airport bus and besides it's quite some waiting for the airport bus to drive to the hotel. The room is not very big but adequate. The bath room is clean. The breakfast is very good and there is champagne too! The personeel at the reception and breakfast area are very friendly. If you want to visit the city by metro, just use the lift to go down to the garage, then you walk out of the hotel for about 5 minutes, you are at the metro station. The train station is not far away, it's about 10 minutes walk and you could catch a train to go to Cintra Palace. Worth to go! Overall, it's a good hotel to stay in Lisbon.

If you're in Lisbon on business in the financial district, it might be ok. Service is consistently inconsistent. Bathroom amenities are not worthy of the 4stars this chain awards itself. Breakfast is adequate? Close enough to a Metro stop. Have to travel for a good meal. Restaurants nearer the hotel are Definitely not value for the money. Better to take a cab into the Baixo/Chiado area and spend the same amount for an excellent dinner

I guess the title sums up most of i have to say about this hotel.

On the bright side :
It is new and very clean everywhere i went.
Good bedding and ok towels.
A nice and comprehensive (international standards) buffet breakfast
As i was there on my birdthday. i was complimented with a cake, candleand sparkling room. surprise from the 'hotel manager'
Affordable prices on minibar
Very quiet inside
Energy savers : corridors lights are triggered by movement detectors, room lights require key cards, A/C turns off when window is opened
A/C control in room
The price is very reasonable for what we get (considering the hotel only, not the surroundings)
Goood selection on cable TV (the standard mix wih a bit of every language)

On the less bright side :
The area is most boring (business area, the deserted type) and not so close to points of interests. Very few eating places around for diner. (a few for lunch), it is simply deadzone in the evening. Taxis are unavoidable to go places (but they are not too expensive in Lisbon)
It is on a large street bordered by buildings (hotels and businesses, or empty). The street can be quiet noisy at day time. Airplanes landing in Lisbon fly right by the hotel ... The isolation from outer noise is quite efficient, but it means closing windows.
ice cube machines on all floors - non worked (they send ice when you ask)
Amenities in bathroom were average and no body lotion (even on demand - sorry for me this a basic 3* up)
The staff was not overly nice. No sure if it is cultural to the country or the hotel ;-) anyways it contributed to the general lack of atmosphere,

There is a Spa and i have not found time to check out and even less try out.

In conclusion : quite satisfactory for a business stay , or if on a pleasure trip intend to just drop your luggage and enjoy it for quiet nights and good kick-off breakfast

Its a business hotel, which is good as it is quiet, rooms are good, breakfast is ok, beds are hard and I mean hard. Unfortunately you can t open the window as planes will fly just "into"the room. location is ok nothing to do in that area but with a taxi you will be in less then 10 minutes in the centre. One very negative point, you have to pay to much money for internet, some hotels are still charging you the money for internet which is more then they are paying per month, it is a matter of steeling the money.

Room Tip: rooms are all the same and have a good isolation so all are quiet

Best hotel I`ve ever stayed for the value.
Nice staff , always helpful , excellent breakfast , big and clean rooms , nice spa.
The only thing I could say that was not very good is the location , its a little bit far from the points of interest but there is a tourist yellow bus that stops in front of the hotel and can drop you wherever you want and the subway is very close too (must take the garage exit at -3 floor ).
