We met the friendly owner of the wine-shop during our morning stroll after visiting the landmarks of Belem. She was über-knowledgeable in wine and auxiliaries. We regretted that our plans would probably not allow to return to test the small but really neat restaurant connected to the wine-shop.
Luckily, due to a sporting event, half of the down-town area had been closed when we started looking around for food options in the castle area. So, we took a cab all across Lisbon.
It was absolutely the best idea during our entire trip.
She remembered us, gave a table and a fantastic wine and dine tasting tour of Portugal. We tasted various red and white Ports, had excellent see food, mushrooms, ham and cheese prepared in excellent quality.
We were the first guests at around 8pm, but buy 9.30pm the place filled up completely.
The staff did not speak much English - in a stark contrast to the owners eloquent wine and food explanations - but they always gave us a big charming smile!
It was a real change from the busy down-town restaurants!
Do not miss it!!!
