Description: Conserves have always been around. But there is one small group of them (and one that it is worth getting to know) that resides at the margins of Lisbon's Terreiro do Paço – or, more precisely, at the Can the Can restaurant. This is a place where Portuguese canned and fresh foods meet every day and where, at the hands of chef Akis Konstantinidis, they combine to create a new concept in Mediterranean cuisine.Various typically Portuguese products are on show here, such as, for example, the best Port wines. And if you find that you like them as much as we think you may, you can always take them with you, too, courtesy of our first-floor store. On top of all this, we believe that if we sometimes eat with our eyes, then our ears can also help us to savour the best flavours. That's why you will find your meal accompanied by Portuguese guitar music every afternoon on the terrace and, in the evenings, by unique kinds of Fado. Our FadoLab project is the place where the Fado of yesteryear meets and is rejuvenated by Fado styles of today in a musical atmosphere free of grand ceremony or rules of behaviour. With all this in mind, we wish to say no more than our door is always open and no-one needs to ask in advance if they may enter. You'll find us here at your disposal.

“Food ok but not impressive. Lousy service!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

The food is not bad actually, we had great entrees and super chocolate mouse. Main course was less impressive but the service ... seriously?!? Got several orders wrong, not very friendly, major debate among staff which caused us having to order again. Prices what you can expect from a really touristy place but with central location.

“Unexpectedly good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Despite being in "tourist central", this turned out to be a great spot. The setting is delightful and we looked out over the Praca, in the early evening, as we enjoyed an innovative meal. We had dinner here after my wife stumbled on it at lunch.
Not for everyone, but my octopus tentacle on wilted greens was FANTASTIC.
The wine list was more than satisfactory.
The staff were pleasant and attentive.
There is more inside and up stairs that is not apparent from the street.
Despite being in a tourist area, the prices were reasonable.

“An unusual experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

The young woman at the entrance was not as well-dressed as her collegues in the restaurant besides, but she smiled warmly when we came and led us to the outside table we said we would like to sit at, such as both of us could view the Praca do comercio. The waiter who took our order looked as if he was taken out of a mafia-movie, and his collegue as well. But they were cheery, smiling and laughing. This restaurant promotes sardines, and many dishes on the menu contain this fish. Since we were there for lunch, I took a sardine salad, and my company chose the chicken salad. Both were excellent. Then we could not resist to try the home-made mousse-au-chocolat, which is made with black pepper, orange, olive oil and pine nuts. On top, it is served with ice-cold white port wine. It was an unusual finale to an unusual lunch in an unusual restaurant. You should not miss the inside of the restaurant which is decorated with hundreds of sardines cans and many other items. We had a one of our best times during our one-week stay in Lisboa at that place.
