“Excellent Tapas Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Located in one of the most active nightlife neighborhoods, Chiringuito Tapas Bar is a perfect place to start the night! Not only if you are with friends, but also if you want to enjoy good food with your girlfriend in Lisbon. With cosy environment, friendly staff, great ''petiscos'', good wine and amazing deserts, I truly recommend this restaurant to try some of the best iberian food you will ever eat.

“Lovely quaint Spanish Tapas Resturant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I was on holiday from South Africa and have tried a few tapas bars in and around Lisbon and to me this was the best tapas in Lisbon.

The food is wonderfully prepared by the Chef Taigo and the owners are friendly and helpful.

The set up is cozy and quaint and worth a visit with friends.

“Gem in the Santos!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

From the moment you arrive in this adorable chic little Tapas hide away you know this is going to be special. Open kitchen, handsome smiling Chef Taigo, great Art on the walls accompanied by fun hand painted seating make for a lively setting. This is not a typical tourist or "Spanish style" Tapas Restaurant. Chiringuito with it's imaginative small plate concept goes tastily beyond just mere Iberico Ham and olives. My dining companions and I were looking for something "special" that was reasonable, local and close to the fun scene in Santos which is not to be compared with Barrio Alto. The Santos is where the "Lisboetas" like to go and get away from all the craziness of the B-Alto. Of course as this is "Tapas" we did try some of the local Portuguese paper thin ham and Queijo and Olives to wet our appetites. We started out with Batatas Aioli a tasty combination of fried potatoes, and a garlic spiced house made mayonnaise, Then onto a creamy yet light delight of pumpkin soup, The Portuguese love their musheooms so try the Cogumelos sauteed in butter and wine. Also, the Gambas Prawns were great and so on... After a point all the unique tasty plates coming your way can be a bit overwhelming to the palette so go easy to not over order. My favorite dish however, was the "Lulas Fritas", fried baby squid, truly a delicacy of which you rarely find on a menu. In addition, a varied and nice mix of reasonably priced Portuguese wines with an emphasis on the excellent yet not so known region of Alentejo. Oh, and lest I forget, the Hostess Luisa made sure we were well taken care of with attentive, warm and knowledgeable service. I would definitely recommend Chirinquito for those culinary adventurer's who want to experience a unique Tapas experience away from the tourist zone.
