“Amazing hotel & great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

I visited Lisbon for 3 days with my friend & we stayed in Sana Lisbon hotel, my friend did a mistake by booking 1 night, we arrived here and asked to extend for 2 nights however the hotel was fully booked , the staff helped us and found a room for us but we were out, we went to other hotel for 1 night n then we came back to this one as it's by far the best one. The staff are very very friendly and the receptionist Patricia helped us in booking a great restaurants .
The metro station is jus 1 min away connecting U to almost all z city, city tours have pick up from this hotel which made it simple for us .
I highly recommend this hotel .

We stayed at this hotel during a weekend city break from 17th-20th April 2015. We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and were very glad we did. The hotel is easily reached from the airport using the Aerobus. The driver on our bus was particularly friendly and helpful, noting where people were staying and advising them of the best stop to get off at. The bus stop for the Sana Lisboa is just across the road from the hotel, though it is a dual carriageway which is a bit daunting. It is best to walk up the road to the traffic lights with a pedestrian button!
Check in was helpful and they fulfilled our wish to be on a high floor at the back of the hotel, by changing our booking from a double room to a twin. We spoke to various staff at reception during our stay and they were all very pleasant and helpful.
The view to the river and the castle was good from the bedroom window. The room was very clean and comfortable. Lighting was good, and the “black out” curtains were very effective, so no early morning premature wake up when it got light. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but this wasn’t promised and few European hotels provide such. Free safe, mini bar, shampoo and shower gel were all provided.
Our room was very quiet. This is helped no doubt by the use of carpet in the corridors, but neither did we experience any inter room noise.
The breakfast was excellent. We experienced no problems with getting a table when we went down for breakfast at around 8am. The room is large and there are lots of tables. People arriving later were shown to tables by staff members. When we were there staff were clearing tables quickly. The variety of food on offer was very good. The only downside was that the hot food was not kept warm once it was put out. There is no waiter service – you help yourself to both drinks and food, so there is no longer any waiting for staff to bring coffee. We did not eat in the restaurant – unfortunately the menu did not appeal to us, which was a shame, as it would have been nice to dress up and relax after a hard days sightseeing, without having to go back into the centre again. The coffee from the bar was very good value at 3 euros and included 3 little petit fours.
Transport into the centre of the city was easy – the bus stop is a little further down on the other side. Again crossing at the lights further down the road is recommended. No 736 ran at least every 20 minutes when we visited. Alternatively it is a pleasant 20 minute walk down a tree lined boulevard, interspersed with cafes!
Getting to Belem on Sunday morning was difficult. Tram 15 was packed and we failed to get on the first 2 whilst waiting at Praca da Commercio, so we were queuing for 45 minutes. When we got to Belem the queues for the Monastery and Belem Tower were significant. The walk between the Monastery and the Tower is about a kilometre. We queued for an hour and 25 minutes to go into the Belem Tower…… and we felt it wasn’t really worth it. The views from the top were not significantly better. People with pre-booked tickets get preference over others in the queue – even those with Lisboa cards have to queue and watch others overtake them. In our view unless you are planning to visit a lot of museums etc the Viva Viagem transport card is better value for money than the Lisboa card. It is not promoted as much, but is available at any metro station and covers all forms of public transport including funiculars. It only costs 6 euros plus 50 cents for the card itself compared to 18.50 euros for the Lisboa card. Both last 24 hours from the time of first use. We returned from Belem mid-afternoon. By walking from the Belem Tower across the bridge over the railway and coastal road, up the street to a tram stop, we were able to get on it. Others further along trying to get on near the monastery, were not so lucky. We found out later that there is a bus to Belem from the stop near the hotel, but how often it runs and how close to the sites it stops we don’t know.
On Saturday afternoon tram 28 was also packed and there was a long queue. Tram 12E was a better bet for getting to the Castle, but still very busy. There were long queues for the Santa Justa elevadore (lift), but the views from the top were worth the wait in our opinion.
Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor at the back is quieter with better views.

Room are in a very good quality and the meeting rooms are also quite alright however many without windows. The restaurant serve an alright lunch with excellent desserts, but the room is a little crowed with to many tables and not a very good atmosphere. All in all a good hotel with a high standard.

Beautiful hotel. Ideal for vongres or business meetings. Location is great as starting point for discovering the city, but from a tourist point of view, I woul prefer a hotel closer to the coast and the older part of the city. Nice rooms, helpfull personel.

The hotel is situated in downtown of Lisbon near Marques de Pombal square. It is available by

car and public transport easily. If we would like to visit more distant places (Belém, Cristo Rei,

Sintra, Cascais, Estoril), we can go by car. However we would like to visit closer inner city we can

choose metro or go on foot in addition we must try the old and famous trams. If we arrive at the

hotel in front of it the Staff takes our car into the garage. In the morning when we want to

sightseeing the Staff brings our car for us from garage. The Staff is very kind and helpful. The

service if this hotel we can find some useful service, for example fitness, gym, sauna, Jacuzzi. The

rooms are so comfortable and well-equipped (LCD TV, minibar, air-conditioner, hair-dryer, safe,

cosmetic articles). Instead of busy roads the rooms are very silent. The breakfast is plentiful and

very delicious. According to us it is very perfect in price/value proportion.

I can offer it someone who wants a comfortable hotel near inner city from where they can go to

a distance places by car.

The hotel was very clean with great facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable and massive. The room itself had a fridge (mini bar - but we put our own items in - moved theirs to one side) no kettle and tea making facilities though. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, even finishing touches like music fed through from the tv in the room with sound controls also. Plenty of complimentary toiletries.
Check out was at 12.00 which was great - a lot longer than most. Our flight was not until the evening we could also freshen up using the spa showers, after storing our suitcases all afternoon, again a very nice touch, all complimentary.
It was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and after an email prior to arrival they laid on a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, fruit and a cake, which again was a lovely touch.
The breakfast had a high standard with many waiters waiting to clear the tables, lots of choice, many fresh fruits which were lovely to see and of course to eat, sweets for the children and adults alike, hot food, fresh pastries and even an overflow breakfast room with all of the selection in and still hot. As the hotel was busy and especially at breakfast there was a delay in using the lifts at breakfast time, but that didn't detract from the actual hotel and our perfect stay.

Highly recommend this hotel for business and for leisure purposes as very central especially if using the metro which was very quick and easy to use.

Also very easy to find the hotel from the airport if using the metro
Metro stop is outside of the airport, use the red line and get off at Saldanha. Change to the yellow line and get off at the Marques De Pombai. This is a very large roundabout with a statue in the middle and the hotel is on the Avenida Fontes de Melo about 2 minutes walk away up the hill on the right hand side. The Edward VII park would be on the left hand side and behind you, when you are walking to the hotel.

The metro costs 1.40 euro for a one way trip, but you need to buy a viagem card first for 0.50 euros then you keep topping up the same card for each trip that you want to make, you can buy a daily pass for around 6 euros

Excellent service in this hotel. All staff very helpful. We received cake and water to our room with compliments of the hotel. Had an extensive breakfast selection too. Although easy to get to city centre it is still a 20 minute walk.
