“Good presentation, bad service and average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I had the opportunity to visit this place with 5 friends and it was really strange. We were very welcome by the staff but the service was so poor that i was hopping that the food would save the day. I tried 5 different plates and none had better than average/poor rating. Lots of time spent on waiting to choose something to eat, waiting to choose something to drink, waiting to eat and waiting to finally have something to drink. I will not return for sure and its too bad because it really has good atmosphere but this guys are not assuming a position of restaurant.

“great meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

This is a great restaurant visited by 2 couples on a short break to Lisbon. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with the menu which was in Portuguese. The waiter translated the whole menu for us and the bits he had difficulty with, he went away, researched and came back with an answer. The food was all excellent, traditional style and cooked perfectly. The waiter suggested wines that went great with the food. There were 5 courses with coffee and liqueurs at the end. Total bill of about £30 per head. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

“Ready,... set,.... wait!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

I had a group dinner there with about 20 people.
We did chose the menu beforehand to get the service faster but unfortunately it bacame a waiting nightmare.
This place is a casual dining restaurant where you would go once every two months or so with a special client, for a date or a company dinner. The atmosphere is very cosy with the warmth of light and traditional Portuguese stone and iron interiors. The staff is friendly and attentive. Food was served one fish and one meat course. About quality, the fish was ok, the meat one was bellow what you would expect from the venue. The wine they served was a single grape variety (castelão) that was only good after the third glass.
Timeline wise: we had to wait 40 minutes for the entrees which they replaced the couvert twice. After a while they brought us some chopped canned sausages with canned mushrooms in small plates that were deep fried. it was to fool our hunger I guess, because it took them another hour to bring the main course and them 40 minutes more after we finished to bring the second course and then half an hour more for dessert!!! 3 and a half hours overall.
I would say that if you go there for some reason, try the mousse, it's delicious (all the flavors, but passion fruit was my favorite).
Probably not going back.

“Excellent food, modest price, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We stopped here for an early dinner and were surprised to find a help yourself buffet. We decided to give it a go as the place looked nice and the staff were welcoming and I'm glad we did. The food was excellent and provided a good range of Portuguese tastes for a very reasonable price, under €10. Highly recommended.
