“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

This hotel is no longer part of the Spanish Evidencia chain. Rooms need painting badly. As far I could tell the air conditioning is not working, but it really wasn't hot enough to pursue it.I found there was always a trick to getting it to work. There no longer is a music channel and the hallway lighting is no longer motion sensor activated. TVs are very dated. But these short comings reflect the wider pain in the city caused by austerity. But rooms are clean and the biggest plus for this hotel is its location. Breakfast remains as before. Third visit in just over one year.

Room Tip: I used ear plugs this time to reduce street noise at night.

Superb location. Quaint slightly shabby rooms, but that wasn't a problem. But a major major problem was the ancient non functioning air condition unit. We were lucky to be in Lisbon during a heat wave in mid May. Glorious sunny weather. But the Tejo Hotel's rooms were like ovens, especially at night. Hardly slept at all in three nights. The very nice guy on reception tried to help but in the end admitted they have a problem. Suggested sleeping with window open = noisy and still far too warm. Also the springs on the bed were coming through. So altogether pretty uncomfortable. But excellent location.

The young lady at the front desk (Carolinha?) is rude and arrogant. When I booked the room I requested a room in back away from street noise with a double bed. I got the room, but when I opened my room door it was clear someone was already staying in it. They moved me to another room right on the noisy street with two twin beds. They could not change it for me. Later, when I asked the front desk to deliver my laundry, they said no. I went downstairs to collect it and they asked if I would like it delivered to my room. Huh? Stay away from this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room in the back, stay away from the very busy street or bring a loud white noise program in o...

Perfect location off Figueira, little noisy, but that is to be expected, and lovely staff. Good breakfast also. Recommended.

The location of this hotel is the real selling point, just off the square at Rossio, everything we wanted to visit/see was within walking distance, we were so pleased at how easy it was to get to everything we wanted to do. The lobby is nice and welcoming, staff were really friendly and helpful, and wifi is free there. The corridors were very blue as was the room. Room was basic, tired and the beds weren't majorly comfy but it was clean and perfect as a base for young people who are out sightseeing and partying. Also a good size. The rooms are quite noisy from the street noise but that didn't bother us too much at all. I wouldnt say it was ideal for a couple seeking luxury and romance. Breakfast is included which was fine, adequate but basic. Overall i'd say we made the perfect choice and were very pleased with or value for money.

Ok hotel with a very nice location. The reception area and breakfast room is nice. The room we got was of a nice size, as earlier mentioned, worned down as expected - but the smell! We couldn't figure out if it was the drain in the bathroom, or moist damage. With two french balconies we got rid of it (or got used to it..:)). Breakfast was good. Personell vaires. The girl that welcomed us was very nice and very helpful. The guy checking us out had much to learn about courtesy. The location saves this hotel.
