“It was not not the best place I had ever stayed.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

I booked a room with a private bathroom in the hotel because we understood we only needed a place to sleep. The location was ok, not very far from the underground station and there were some good restaurants just round the corner. But I the staff! We checked in late in the evening and the next day we went to explore the city early in the morning. When we got back in the evening our room had not been cleaned, even the beds were not made to say nothing about the waste basket. When I asked the receptionist if they cleaned the rooms at all, she confirmed they did every day. Then she said it was their mistake and she was sorry but it happened sometimes and I had to put up with it. She only emptied the waste basket. I was not offered to have a drink in the nearest bar for half an hour while the tidy the room - no. The y were not going to do anything about it.
As they did not have laundry services I had to use a laundry nearby. But I did not draw attention to their working hours and could not pick up the things in time. I asked the staff in the hotel to help and told them to pay for the troubles, they refused flatly to do anything about it. They even did not care about giving advice. I asked the receptionist to call a manager and he said it was too early and he could not disturb her. That was amazingly childish of a person whose job is to care about the comfort of the guests. What I saw their was total neglect of the guest who paid for the stay. They just do not care at all. As a result I had to go to the police station in Santa Marta street, the policemen were much nicer - they contacted the owner of the laundry and she opened her shop for us.
To sum it all up: I can not recommend the hotel. But I can recommend the police from Santa Marta street and the laundry in 99, Condo de Retonda street - really nice people.

I stayed for one night after arriving in Lisbon on a late flight, It's a centrally-located great value old school type place, with staff that were friendly and helpful. The room, although quite small, was clean and comfortable, with lashings of hot water in the shower, and free fast wifi. I'll defintely use it again if I need a stopover in Lisbon.

We stayed there only for one night, but I quite liked it. It has a nice style, like an old apartment in Berlin, with high ceilings and a wooden floor. The room was clean and the staff friendly. Wifi didn't work and you have to walk a bit to get to the metro, but no problem for us.

As other reviewers said, the hotel is Ok. The location is good, the "quality" of our staying was Ok (pretty cheap, but not a 5-stars hotel). The staff was really kind with us, and that was probably the best point: the bathroom had a problem with the draining (never solved) but nothing really major. It's quite easy to get to downtown (bus or subway), average breakfast... A choice to be considered if you don't want to spend a lot.

We stayed at the pension two nights on both sides of the trip we took to the Azores and it was basically a layover stay. The rooms were small but adequate and clean. The problem was that we found mold in both rooms we stayed in and it appeared that the condition was being addressed with bleach rather than to remove/repair. There is no elevator and with bags the 3 story walkup is dificult for older travelers. Very reasonably priced and staff was very helpfull.

Relatively close to downtown Lisbon. Easy to reach by metro. The hotel has a good value, we paid 25 euros for a double room with bathroom included. You get what you pay, the bathroom smelled a little, the bed was a uncomfortable and the room was quite small. Breakfast was 5 euros extra per person and there is no elevator. The staff was kind enough but they didn't go out of their way to help you or assist you. It is a good and cheap enough place to crash the night.

Not far away from the centre of Lisbon, Residencia Mar dos Acores offers accommodation with good value for money. But remember also that you normally get what you pay for.
I was happy to have my room in the ground floor, even if I had to pass the inner court with the garbage cans. The room number one was really small (I wish the photos will give an idea), with the stairs to the upper floors taking place from the roof, it was a double room but it'd be absolutely too small for two! Otherwise it was ok; it was very clean, with its own bathroom, it had air condition and even microwave oven.
The staff was also ok, nice, saying politely "hello" and "good night", but I got the map only after asking advice, and the instructions were not very accurate, so I'd recommend to study the map before arriving... Anyway, there's bus no 760 (Rua Gomes Freira) going to the center (from the center back from Praca Figueira). The closest underground station is Picoas, but the way to Marques de Pombal isn't much longer, and there's underground direct to the centre (blue line, direction Santa Apolonia, stop Restauradores or Baixa-Chiado), and also there're good connections to the airport (the blue line to direction Amadora Este, to Station of S. Sebastiao, then the red line to the airport).
Residencia Mar dos Acores is a affordable and safe place to stay over nigth. If you have an early flight in the morning and you can't profite the good connections by underground, just ask the receptionist to call a taxi - it'll arrive in 5 minutes and cost you about 10 € (+ 50 cents for the call).
