“Great location, well run, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Very central location, close to shopping and public transport, neighbourhood is OK, but the great thing is that you can get to pretty much any other interesting neighbourhood with very small effort. Everything in the room worked perfect, bathroom was very spacious, even had a window that could open. Bed to the firm side. In-room safe and in-room Wi-Fi cost extra. Safe and Wi-Fi in the reception is free. Breakfast was OK, with a bit of everything and of acceptable quality (good bread and pastry, dull coffee and beverages). Could not check in before 14:00, not even an attempt to see if any rooms were ready when I tried at 12:00. Maybe the hotel is noisy during high-season, but noise level was acceptable when I stayed. Definitely better than average, I would come back.

Room Tip: Don't get a room next to the elevator.

Our suite for 3 had all the comforts and space we wanted. Lots of closets and drawer space and a beautiful view of the city. The included buffet breakfast had every imaginable breakfast item as well as delicious coffee. The front desk was extremely helpful when arranging taxis or tour guides. The location is a short distance from the lovely Rossio Square as well as many excellent restaurants.

Room Tip: Request a view.

I and a few friends stayed here in October. I had an open mind because reviews are pretty mixed but things went wrong straight away. An older, very miserable man checked us in and when I asked about our deal which said that if you stay 5 nights you get a free meal in the restaurant he said that we had a different deal. I asked him to check and the answer was the same. He made us feel very uncomfortable. We knew we were right but he just ignored us. We checked with the travel agent (BA) when we returned and they said that we did have this deal. They have been great dealing with the hotel so this won't happen again and even compensated us for this error and unpleasantness. Please note that there isn't even a hint of apology or concern from the hotel itself - and it has taken them this long to respond. This says all it needs to about the staff. Needless to say we didn't feel inclined to dine at the hotel after this. They were very unhelpful throughout our stay. We would ask a question and after a few seconds of being very bored would be looking behind us at the next customer.
The staff in the restaurant were better and much more helpful. There was a good variety of food at breakfast although it was very much the same every day and not of very good quality. Our friends had breakfast elsewhere even though they had paid for it.
Our room was quite spacious although a bit shabby and like others we had problems with the wardrobe doors which we had to leave open. The view over St. Georges Castle was lovely. We had asked for a quiet room as my health is not good and we knew we'd be in the room during the day. We checked in on the Saturday but found out at 8am on the Monday that the building site at the back was an active one with banging, power tools and shouting from 8am -8pm every day. We had completely unpacked at this point so decided just to live with it. Rooms at the front of the hotel will be quieter while this work is going on.
The lobby is quite small and often crowded and noisy and it is very busy by the lifts and the computers which are free in the lobby but not in a very relaxing place.
This hotel is very well situated being close to tram 28 and the main squares but there are other much better ones in equally useful positions. It is supposed to be 4* but definitely is not in any way. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anybody.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms are quieter whilst the building work at the back is in progress.

Upon arriving we received the worst customer service we have ever experienced. There were a number of other things wrong with the hotel but customer service is a basic. They were rude, stroppy, high strung, no one wanted to assist in any way. Everything seemed like such a punish for them.
We purchased wifi for the room but after 3 mins it would cut out and would need to re-enter the login details. This kept happening. We exchanged the password on two occasions but always the same problem.
We were staying down the very end of level 5 and the hallway stunk of urine for the entire time we were there.
Our toilet didnt flush properly.
The rooms are outdated and dingy.
There was construction going on constantly outside our window (our window looked out onto the backs of very ugly buildings and the construction site).
The only good thing I can say is that the location was good and the rooftop bar is lovely. Great views.
We ended up just leaving this hotel with two nights to go because it was ruining our experience of Lisbon. Upon checking out we didn't even receive a smile, a thank you for staying with us or anything from the bloke behind the counter. Just short, stroppy, unpleasantness. He didn't even realise we were checking out early.
I will never be staying there again! I recommend no one else does either. Its worth it to pay extra and stay somewhere nice.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. You step outside and the queue for the historic Tram 28 is right there. Easy walking distance to lots of sights and restaurants. The second best thing about this place is the rooftop bar. Beautiful views of Lisbon. And the bar itself is very nice. Modern seating w nice low coffee tables. They provide blankets in the evening when it's chilly. Very cozy way to have a drink before headed out to dinner. All of the bar servers were excellent. As for the rest I give it 2 stars. Cranky front desk. But they did speak English. And in all fairness a couple of them were polite and helpful. Couldn't get temp controlled in the room. It had a mind of its own. We were either freezing or burning up. Two pushed together twin beds were uncomfortable for two. I kept falling in the crack. Our room faced the plaza and it was quite noisy beginning at 6:00 am w delivery trucks etc. There is a charge for WIFI unless you're in the lobby or bar and you have up keep re-entering the code. The rooms were ok. Bath was updated. But you'd be showering along, minding your own business and just be suddenly scalded by some strange water surge. And I mean scalding. I could not trust that shower and had one foot out the door at all times after that. Overall it averaged out to a decent value though.

This central location to the city centre amenities is great, The roof top bar in the place to be at dusk. The restaurant also has wonderful views. The food was good and the drinks even better. Though a large hotel that was busy it never really felt crowded.
I was a little disappointed that there was not a pool, but I still would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: An outward facing room would get the best view.

Very elegant hotel in a central zone of Lisbon, just about ten minute walk from almost every mundane attraction in town. Breakfast is gorgeous even if the other meals seemed a bit monotonous. Rooms are spaciuos and well equipped and the staff very friendly. There is a wide lounge and many different areas to eat and most of all a gorgeous roof garden.
