“Spatious family room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We stayed at a Junior suite, a very good and spacious room (2 adults and 3 children), with a very nice view of the river and of the Tagus bridge.
The hotel is nice, the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very good.
I think that the restaurant is too expensive, but there are many restaurants in the vicinities.

Stayed there in May '13 for a conference 5 min down the road. The location for tourists is pretty good as it's right near Bellem, which is a wonderful area.

However, the staff is very unfriendly, and speak little English. The major bridge that's next to the Hotel, makes it unable to open windows at night or day. If you get a room towards the bridge, good luck. It's relatively clean but it needs fixing.

Internet needs to be paid for, the same as for the in-room safe lock!!!

The breakfast was actually pretty good (as was most of the food in Lisbon), while the bar service was quite sad. Since we were there for a conference, most of us gathered at the bar in the evening, and the hotel only ordered 1 waiter/bar-tender to help/serve 30 people. Poor guy.

Clients, my boss, and eventually later, myself, stayed at other hotels, which were much better for similar price.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a rugby trip. Hotel is very nice, pretty much what you would expect, staff friendly and it was convenient enough for us. I did notice there is not much withing easy walking distance which would have been a drag at other times and the bridge is noisy if you have the window open, but fine if you don't. Bar was quite busy although service a bit slow. They had opera singers in the bar one night which drew quite a crowd. Great if you like that sort of thing. Breakfast was good, no faults there at all.

The only good thing to say about this hotel, is the proximity to Congress centre. Room very hot, air conditioning did not work. Aside from being under the flight path, feeling like the train was going directly through my room and the very noisy bridge the service was poor at best. The staff don't care - the hotel is presumably always full. Arrive back from the congress, tired and looking forward to a beer, only to wait for 20 mins, whilst one person is serving. If you want to use the gym, before 7.30am - forget it. This hotel is run for the convenience of the staff, not the guests.

Room Tip: Away from the bridge. Not a top floor - it will feel like the plane is going to land on you

This hotel is convenient for the conference centre but not for much else. It is right underneath the Pont de 25 Abril which is noisy all the time so try and get a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Rooms are ok, nothing special. Particularly galling is the fact that the lock had been removed from the safe in the room so that you had to pay for a lock - what a cheek! No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Wine is cheap at the bar though! Service at the front desk was very slow and understaffed, although one woman was helpful on checkout regarding ordering a taxi and storing luggage. Free wifi in the lobby works ok so don't bother paying extra to have it in the room. You have to pay around 11 euros for the pool which I think is a rip-off so didn't bother. Breakfast is ok. You can walk to Belem along the river in about half an hour. Cross the footbridge by the conference centre to get to the riverside and the restaurants which are there. La Capricosa does quick, tasty and comparatively cheap pizza/pasta. A taxi to/from the airport costs about 15 euros.
In general, I think this hotel is overpriced for what and where it is - 170 euros per night which was a "special conference rate". Check your bill as they tried to charge me more than what had been agreed. I wouldn't bother staying at this hotel unless you are using the conference centre or have a particular desire to be in close proximity to a large bridge.

Room Tip: Get as far away from the bridge as possible!

Stayed here when working at the congress centre. Service at the reception is unbelievably slow but everything else about the hotel is OK. So long as you're not a light-sleeper with a room facing the bridge that is. Rooms, bar & restaurant all perfectly comfortable and adequate if nothing to write home about. They have a regular singer in the bar area, if you like it you stay, if you don't you can go outside, which is fine in spring/summer.

Room Tip: avoid bridge-side rooms, they're noisy

Bare wooden floor in bedroom, hard bed, noisy, thin walls, no tea-making facility or trouser press but a mini-bar with six small bottles in. The cheapest was the water at almost £3.00. Breakfast very basic with strange tasting 'orange juice', rough coffee and very limited selection. Virtually no access via public transport to the hotel and three taxi drivers (from the airport, a restaurant and the university) had to seek directions from colleagues! A taxi from the hotel to the university failed to arrive as booked and a second turned up twenty minutes later and then the driver had no idea of our destination within the campus. A 15 minute journey took 40 minutes and led to an argument over the bill. Sorry, never again.
