Although I read and speak Portuguese, my husband doesn't and this was very frustrating when we realize that this museum has not got any information for English speakers. It was nice to see all the gifts and the medals and condecorations. The paintings were also very nice. The little shop at the entrance of the hotel was very nice and had some souvenirs cheaper than at other touristy places. A good selection of notebooks and books about the republic theme and also things for the kids, like colour books with the republic thematic. As a republican myself, it was nice to see all this gear. On the other hand, the "tour" of the palace was very bad... The lady took us two there and we entered ONE room, that is, the lobby. that was it. We could put our heads through the door and see the other rooms for some minutes. We were not allowed in any other room and I felt "cheated". The "falls" (cascata) they advertise is nothing more than a water fountain on the top of a statue. that is it. I am not sure about recommending this attraction to anyone travelling during winter season.

First of all, I would like to thank you for your review. And inform you that the guided tours to the Palace are made only at the weekends: Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons.
From the 14th December till the 6th January, due to the Christmas decorations that a lot of people intend to see, visitors could do a free tour but only to the gardens and the main entrance.
I hope you can visit us again during the weekend, outside Christmas time, in order to show you all the beauty of the Belém Palace.
