“Outstanding Value in Bairro Alto in Lisbon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

On my 2 week trip all over Portugal this past September/October, I stayed at Pensao Loudres twice. One great location, but far enough away from the street partying down the street, especially on Friday & Saturday nights. A short walk from Elevador da Gloria and downtown. Great places to eat, drink and be merry, all short walks from Londres. Rooms are very clean, but small, some with great views. Good breakfast, but you may have to wait for a seat depending on what time you eat. There are other pensaos nearby but not as nice. Helpful friendly staff. Go down the funicular, take a right and the Hotel Avenida Palace by the Rossio Train Station will cost you a small fortune! I loved Lisbon and the rest of Portugal, driving over 1200 miles visiting 21 cities from Porto in the north to Lagos in the Algarve using Pensao Londres as my home base.

Room Tip: Away from reception and bathrooms.

The interior looked a bit dated but the beds were fine. The toilet lid wouldnt stay open, so that was anoying during use. Service was good and they made up the room nicely when asked. The location is excellent. Cheap hotel with wifi and value for money. We came earlier then expected but they had another room for us pretty quick. The lights in the room were a bit faint due to energy saving bulbs.

The Chinese shop next door was very convenient and cheap for when you forgot or needed something. They sell almost anything and very cheap!

We stayed there for 2 nights due to location and cost. The staff were friendly and despite not having en suite the bathroom across the landing was large and clean. Breakfast basic. Our room was next to reception however and you could hear every noise from people entering, leaving, talking at reception and the lift. I was very relieved that I had earplugs to use, so I was able to get some sleep. All in all it was good value because of it's cost and situation in Bairro Alto but I would definitely ask to be on a different floor (not next to reception) next time.

Room Tip: Avoid those rooms near reception

Lovely location on top of one of Lisbon's hills. There's a park close to the hotel which is lovely. It's an old pension and it looks a little creaky from the street, but the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is adequate and the staff were friendly and helpful. They pointed us to a very good inexpensive restaurant in the neighborhood. Cabs are cheap in Lisbon--cheaper than the bus from the airport if there are two of you, we found. Now if the weather hadn't been so rainy, we would have had a perfect time.

We stayed there in January and got a super cheap price for a stay of 6 nights, the room was very nice, comfortable beds, the cleaning service was amazing EVERY DAY, the breakfast was also okay (besides the coffee compared to what you get in a café) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are definitely going back there on our second trip to Lisbon! Also the view and the location are absolutely wonderful!

Close to city center. Good room with view of the river. No problem with shared bathroom, never had to wait for anyone else. Nice breakfast room. Breakfast was good, though it lacked variety... good value for money. Staff were very helpful throughout.
I would definitely stay again.
