My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The hotel is clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. The receptionist gave us a great recommendation for a true (non-tourist) Portugese Fado restaurant and made the reservation for us. There is a steep climb to the hotel but well worth the view at the top and from our room. The hotel is difficult to find so you might consider taking a taxi the first time. We took the bus and ended up at the Castelo where we asked for more directions. Once you find it, however, walking back and forth from then on is easy. In fact the entire old section can be done on foot from this hotel..wear your sneakers! I highly recommend this hotel. Boston, MA
We did not have a terrace room, but did have an upper floor room with a magnificent view of Lisbon. I couldn't take may eyes away. Weather was warm, so we left the window open at night (bring earplugs if the city sounds will keep you awake). We loved it, and were glad we booked here rather than the high-rise, sterile hotels in the newer parts of the city. Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean and pleasant. Walk up the hill from Tram 28 is less than 5 minutes. Old Lisbon is lovely, and this hotel is the perfect base from which to venture out.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon.
The staff is very friendly, and everyone speaks great English.
The hotel is just 15 minutes from the Airport, and just a 5 minute cab ride, or a 10 minute walk, from the center of town.
The free breakfast is better than the breakfast you'd get at most hotels in the US.
And, as everyone else has said, the views are the best in Lisbon - better even than from Castelho do Sao Jorge!
You will not be disappointed if you stay here!!!!!
My daughter and I spent 4 days in Portugal in April 2006 and stayed at the Albergaria Senhora do Monte. We had a double room with a terrace, which had the most amazing view of Lisbon. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable. The service in the hotel is second to none. The breakfast on the roof was ample and everyone made us feel quite welcome. Getting to the heart of Lisbon was a snap via the tram at the bottom of the hill. I would not hesitate staying there again!
