Fantastic stay in this Meridien Lisbon. The concierge is excellent.
We were booked into this hotel by a Lisbon travel agent who arranged a trip for a group of friends. My husband and I had arrived in Lisbon several days ahead of the group and stayed at another hotel. The Le Meridien exceeded our expectations so much that we cancelled a future reservation at the other hotel and moved to Le Meridien (our travel agent in the US made the arrangements via email). The rooms were decent sized, nicely furnished, quiet, with excellent beds and all of the right amenities. The breakfast (buffet) was the best one we encountered in our almost 3 weeks in Portugal. Service in the bar was sometimes very slow; although the food was good. One night the doorman just could not get taxis for a number of us who needed them for a dinner reservation; we ended up cancelling that reservation and walking to a nearby neighborhood type bistro. Other evenings, there was no problem. Very strange for this hotel (no, it was not raining).
Even with the weak dollar, we felt this was an excellent value for a big city hotel. Internet connection in the room was expensive -- 22€/day.
I returned this week from Lisbon with a lot less cash, jewlery and electronic equipment than I went with. I went out to a local, well-lit bar in the Bairro Alto section for a beer after an early dinner. There were several international visitors and what seem ed to be generally good company. I was offerred a beer by one of these people and the next thing I knew it was 26 hours later and I was waking up in a stupor in my hotel room having been robbed of all of my belonings. I called the hotel front desk at Le Meridien Park Atlantic(a 5 star hotel) and I was given a nonchalant response and a name of some hotel person who I should call later in the morning. I was also told that I would have to pay an extra day because there was wine on the floor(how it got there I do not know). I informed this staff that I did not want to miss my plane but they seemed totally uninterested in investigating this or helping me. There was a total lack of concern. I would have been pleased with an offer of water or a bit of food or perhaps the help of a doctor or nurse. I was so disoriented from having been drugged that I just packed what I could and went to the airport. It is very upseting to me that a hotel and its people could treat a guest this way and that a City allows the drug traffic to occur as it does in Lisbon.
Booked this thru Ryanair for one night at £53 and was everything we expected.
High class standard of reception, free port on arrival and room was again to a very high standard.
As we didnt have return flights until 9.30 the following night they happily looked after our suitcases all day.
Didnt eat at the premise but overall a nice one night stay
We stayed at the Atlantic Park for a short break , having found a great price deal on the internet. The hotel was everything you would expect from a five star hotel - clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were especially impressed that, having told them it was our anniversary, we arrived in our room to find a bottle of champagne and a chocolate cake, compliments of the hotel.
It is a bit out of town, but a ten minute walk brings you to the Metro station at Marques de Pombal, where you can pick up connections into the town and the coast. Public transport and taxis are incredibly cheap compared to Britain.
Because of its category, prices in the bars and restaurants were expensive, so we only took breakfast in the hotel. Nor did we use the health club over the road - though had we known about the fantastic tennis courts there, we would have taken our kit!
