I would not recommend this hotel. Old fashioned and small room. Uncomfortable bed, to hard. No coffee or tea maker in the room. Only one cleaning lady per floor, at 17h00 the room was not cleaned yet. The front desk receptionist was ill-mannered.

I stayed here on business in October 2007 for 3 nights. Hotel public areas (reception, hallways, restaurant etc) were all nicely decorated and clean. Reception staff helpful.
Room was quite small, adequate for 1 person, but wouldn't have liked to share! See photo! Clean and comfortable though, and everything you need! Only downside was that rooms were either on the busy roundabout side, or looked to the back (which would normally be quiet, but when I stayed there were building works going on next door which seemed to have people around all night!)
Breakfast was included in the room rate. OK - fruit, yoghurts, cereals, bread & pastries, meat & cheese, and limited choice of cooked items. All self service, incl getting your coffee out of the machine.
Location was good - about 15mins walk to the main centre (or get taxi/underground/bus). Tourist bus for a tour of the city starts just across the road, which was very handy!
Summary: A clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel in a fairly good location.
Top tourist tips: walk up to the top of Park Eduardo VII (literally 10mins from hotel door) for lovely view of the city; recommend Belem area (don't miss the Pasteis de nata, lovely little custard tarts sold from a famous bakery/cafe here!) and riverside (Docas) for evenings - lots of trendy bars and restaurants. A great city if you like Seafood and sunshine!

You can do so much better. The front desk had a receptionist that was not only unhelpful, but also rude. It really was a shame. The place was not really that great, but the room was okay if you are not expecting too much. The location was decent, but there was nothing great about the hotel.

I stayed in this hotel once and will not go there again. Main reason is that I can't stand noisy hotels and this one is REAL noisy. Staff is not very enthusiastic at all and the building is old and not nice at all. Rooms are ok but not to nice and average cleaned at the best. Elevators are slow and small. Somebody said the hotel is noicy in the morning.. it's more like all the night and hugely noisy after say 4 AM. I'd stay away.

We stayed at the Fenix for 3 nights and found it very pleasant but it didn't quite meet the 4* rating. the beds were a little hard for our liking and there was no tea tray. This could have made a big difference to our stay as we didn't like the type of coffee served in Lisbon. We now realise that we should have taken our own kettle and coffee. On arrival we asked if we could possibly have a balcony room. There are only a few of these on the top floor but we were given one of these at no extra charge. It was fabulous. The balcony was the largest we've ever had in a hotel room being approx 25'x12'. We had a veiw over the busiest roundabout in Lisbon which was always entertaining. The only drawback to this was the seemingly continuous noise of the police sirens. They seem to use them for no reason at all. We found the hotel very friendly and very very clean in all areas. We ate in the hotel restaurant 2 nights out of 3. The food was very good as was the breakfast in the morning. Plenty of choice both continental and cooked. Prices for food and drink were on a par with the rest of Lisbon. Travelling around Lisbon is very easy and inexpensive. I would recomend this hotel to my friends if they were going to Lisbon because it is really central with the Metro right outside the front door. Thanks Fenix for a lovely stay.
