“The best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

Simply the best hotel in Lisbon. Outstanding service, great facilities, large rooms, nice spa, and very good restaurant. The place to be.

We got caught up in the Volcanic Ash crisis and urgently needed to get somewhere to stay and arrange to get home having queued at the train station for 7 hours to not be able to buy a train ticket home!
The 4 Seasons were amazing, they immediately found us a room for the night when we rang them and on arrival upgraded us to a suite to make up for the terrible day we'd had! To top it all they arranged a car and driver to take us to paris so we could get the Eurostar home..... out of this world service

We stayed at this hotel before boarding a WindStar cruise. Only one night here but the room we had was great. Nice balcony with a (somewhat distant) water view and close enough to town to walk everywhere we needed to go. The staff members were very pleasant and helpful in guiding us to restaurants and local sites given our short time in Lisbon. Would have loved to have more time here!

Hotel is well placed, concierge very helpful, gym area excellent. spa in the basement good. pool area lovely. Our room was fine not amazing, though the bed was extremly comfortable.
I Found this hotel to be really expensive, considering Portugal in general is good value. I would not recommend eating or drinking there.

Myself and my partner stayed here and we had a wonderful time. The staff are superb and very willling to help you in any way they can. We had a lovely room with a nice balcony and view of the park. The room was spacious and charming. The beds are so comfortable it was hard to get up out of them in the morning.
The pool/spa area is lovely, very relaxing with comfy lounges nice to chill out there read a book etc and the sauna and steam room are also excellent they have bathrobes and fresh towels for when you get out and you can help yourself to fresh fruit and herbal teas.
The fitness center is on the roof with amazing views of lisbon, lovely to watch the sunset in the evenings also. We did not have the time to use the fitness centre unfortunately as we did not have the time but all the facilities are top class and any fitness fanatics dream! The docks is a must to visit good restaurants there and few good bars/ nightclubs. Bairo Alto also for the little coblle streets and good restaurants/bars etc very reasonable although we went to expensive restaurant recommended by the hotel.
Sintra and Caiscais were very beautiful and well worth the visit.
I loved Lisbon and this hotel and would definitely go back!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2010

I was somewhat disappointed with my recent 4-day stay at the "Hotel Ritz" in Lisbon.

Cons:
- On the outside, hotel is ugly, Large 70s-style concrete hotel.
- Pictures on website slightly misleading. The table with the view over Lisbon simply does not exist, unless you want to have breakfast on a running track on the roof.
- Rooms slightly sub-par, not up to usual Four Seasons standard.
- Smell of smoke in the room. I asked to be changed to a different one, but was the same. Staff told me that smoking is tolerated even in non-smoking rooms. This simply should not be allowed.
- Four Seasons is usually known for the best possible locations. This is not the case here, Location is not terrible, but not the best either.
- Service in restaurant a bit overzealous. This might not seem a problem, but several people are constantly watching you while you eat, which is quite unnerving. Staff was a bit amateuristic.

Pros
- Staff were very friendly; not just helpful, but genuinely friendly.
- Food really good, both breakfast and lunch.
- Prices reasonable, lower then usual Four Seasons prices.
- Although I was somewhat disappointed, it may still be the best hotel in Lisbon, so might return nevertheless.

We stayed here for a long weekend and really liked it.

Rooms are large and comfortable and unlike many hotels, doors and walls are thick so you don't get much outside noise at all.

Breakfast buffet was very nice and service was impeccable.

The hotel is a pleasant walk, maybe around 20 - 30 minutes, from Alfama or a 5 minute cab right.

Only slight disappointment was that the only pool is indoors so there's no chance to lie in the sun by the pool. Also the spa treatments were extremely expensive.
